Quirky, off-beat, full of style, depth, and humor
madelynevansart28 November 2018
I love movies that have such a distinct vibe and vision, that if you saw another by the same film maker, you'd know it was theirs. That's how I felt about M.L.E.

Not only a visual delight, but writer/director Sarah Warren tackles issues such as gender inequality in the entertainment industry with humor, and compelling characters.

One of my favorite lines from the film is, "I just want to tell good stories and eat cake." (Maybe it's because I can relate?!)

I highly recommend this film for anyone who loves a good story (cake not necessary).

Funny movie about an actor trying get acting work and getting a spying job instead.

My Little Eye is a funny movie partly based on her experience as a broke actor trying to get work in London. Writer/Director Sarah Warren plays Julie Robert (not Roberts) who has come to London to appear in a movie about Vampire Mermaids which falls through. Warren, a Canadian, has said one of her main influence was British comedy like Fawlty Towers and you can see the influence though with a lot more swearing a bit reminiscent of The Young Ones. Also people sleeping with the wrong people, dealing drugs and the like.

Pretty much all the agents the character visits are sleazy or abusive which I thought can't be like that in real life but apparently asking there are some iffy ones out there. Also the British public mostly come across as a tad rude. I wonder how close that is to reality. As a it can be kind of interesting seeing outsiders impressions coming here.

Funny, kooky, random - the kind of world I'd want to live in
lydialeft2 December 2018
Blessed be the day I found this little hidden gem! It's lifted my spirits right out of the dark mood I've been in this week!

It's a refreshing escape from the mundanities of life with several unexpected twists thrown in. I've got actor friends and they keep saying how much it sucks trying to get a career of the ground in a place like London. But I found it so much fun to see it through the eyes of the lead character when she starts getting in to all these mad and random situations. Without dropping too many spoilers, my favourite parts were probably the nursery song and the bike chase! It's done to just the right tone of amusement!

Also I love the diversity of the cast and the fact that the lead role is not a typically brash American-type in the UK.

Sequel?

A film-haven for geeks who see London as virtual reality adventure.

Warning: Spoilers
There's nothing like a modern-day film that shows you all the platitude trappings of adulthood whilst simultaneously igniting a spark in your heart that takes you back to your youth. MLE did that for me. It's a cool, light-hearted collection of stories with everything you'd expect from a compelling 80's sci-fi animation if it were set in earthy areas of East London in the 21st Century.

Sarah Warren plays jobbing actress, Julia Robert (poor girl!) whose slowly running out of money, trying to get by in the big city, doing what she has to do. A lot of us have been there but what's super-nice about the character is that she's never showing the audience a downward spiral into despair. The mood is always picked straight back up with short and sharp doses of humour that she will quickly have to deal with. The best example being when she's hired to be a spy (supposedly she can ACT like a spy because she's an actress?)

When I started watching, I didn't think of this film as a comedy, it just feels like something that unravelled itself and became one. Always a good thing in my book! I'm not one for genres. I just like how this film bounces from one situation to another with Warren's character at the helm, navigating though a series of strange situations until she does the best thing the any person can do, find herself.

M.L.E is like a collage of colourful, cheap-thrill, adolescent nostalgia with some glorious city-scapes and creepy-but-funny puppets thrown in for good measure! After the closing credits, I think I'll always enjoy eating vegetables!

Blue&Pink, Bubbly adventure comedy!

Really likeable cast, story, lead actress. I especially liked the puppet monologues! I felt like I was watching a film that shows the really refreshing and creative direction that the film industry could move in if the top distributors would bother to open their minds! Sarah Warren has done an amazing job writing, directing and starring in this flick. If she's got any more films, I'd like to check them out!

Wild, weird, random and satisfyingly strange
urbanzora-090944 December 2018
M.L.E was a title that didn't give much away for me, personally. But once I started watching, everything just felt like a really nice fairground ride going at just the right pace. Even the colour looks like those teacup rides I used to go on with my cousin as a hyper 10-year-old.

I have a lot of respect for the lead character Julie for dealing with some of the situations she got into, (especially when they asked her to be a spy!) All those funny little references to puppets, games and figurines hit the sweet spot for me!

I don't think everyone would like this film but I guess I'm enough of a childish nerd to really get it! Nice job MLE Movie!

Struggling actress Julie Robert gets the role of a lifetime. But it's unexpected!

I felt really sorry for Julie Roberts in this film but I love how she kept on going no matter what! She kind of went with the flow and took whatever chance there was around (even if it was just stealing a bike!)

There was good tongue-in-cheek humour and good mockery of all the different London folk. I'd like to find some of the places where they did the film. Does anyone know?

A little twinkle in MY LITTLE EYE!
zyridproductions4 December 2018
Went to see a private screening of this movie with some friends. I heard about it when it came out a couple of years ago but I never made it to the first release. I'm glad I finally saw it! It was absolutely marvellous! We thought we'd come on here and leave some little reviews?

I was on the spy alter-ego scene and looking back I never realised how M.L.E sounded like Emily and I didn't clock why she wasn't just going by that name as soon as she became a spy. But using it as initials keeps it edgier so it balances out the fluffy visuals and sleepy London settings. It was cute, funny and heartwarming all at the same time!
