Not bad, but the writers can do better.

Warning: Spoilers
I know that it must be hard to stack everything in one wedding weekend, but at least let some of these story lines go somewhere. Barney being mad at Ted did not last very long and the Lily/Robin storyline felt a bit pointless since Lily was jealous for about a seconds at Robins new friend, then they made up. The writers sometimes have really good ideas but they don't milk them properly. Like I wish we could have seen Barney actually use the weekend at Barneys play before he got engaged.

I did like the Marsh Pillow and most of Barney and Teds storyline, but its obvious that the show has seen better days. All in all this was not a bad episode of TV, but it does not live up to the old HIMYM standards.

The Broken Code (#9.4)

This is a pretty good episode about friendship. One story is Lily wanting Robin to have more female friends but then not liking it too much. This is not a very important story but such a fun one. Both Robin and Lily are great at it.

Barney being mad at Ted about having held Robin's hand was also good. I love how they implemented Marshall into it. We have Marshpillow here helping his bros out to solve the issue. The scene with them on the beach was pretty great. I also like how they resolved it. And I liked all scenes with Marshall in it. The delays he had first time at the beach as well as the weekend at Barney's reference.

It was also great to see Ranjit at the poker table as well as Tim Gunn.

The show used to be great but it's steadily dropping.

Warning: Spoilers
After the massive cliff hanger in episode 3 or season 9 many were eager to find out how it would plan out. Once finding out however I bet I speak for many when I said it was disappointing. For quite some time season 9 has been making how I met your mother fall, the jokes are unfunny because they're trying to hard and when you want something to be serious they go and try to make another fail joke. I have been addicted to this show since season 1, don't prove to me it was a waste of time. Also the end of this episode with William being the future problem apparently, I don't understand why they would try to do something with that.

Solid Episode, But Not Very Funny
slightlymad2225 March 2015
For some explicable reason the TV channel I'm watching the reruns on, skipped the last episode, and went straight on to this one!! I hate it when it does that!!

So now I'm watching "The broken" code" without seeing the build up to the scene at the end of the last episode which starts this one!! And it was a big important one!'

Plot In A Paragraph: Barney tells Ted he seen him and Robin holding hands at the Carousel in Central Park. Accusing Ted of breaking The Bro Code, he is so upset he strips Ted of his best man duties. Lily upgrades Marshpillow, who ends up in the argument with Ted and Barney, and Robin realises she has no female friends except Lily.

No Cristin Milioti in this episode, which is a disappointment, there were only a few laughs to be had, but it was a solid episode. Which hopefully put an end to the Ted/Robin/Barney love triangle.

Brocode breakers
kbimadod14 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The entire episode is about Barney complaining about Ted breaking the bro code because he held Robin's hand and "a bro shouldn't hold his bro's fiancé's hand" So why did Barney bang Robin? She's Teds ex, so a bro's ex... gosh I really don't understand this episode.

At this point...
Gernot S.9 September 2021
I've complained quite a bit about the characters being out of character, the last one or two seasons. At this point, this has changed. They became new characters. It became a new show.

Not only did it get way more silly, and the characters' characters get bent over backwards, for the the sake of a joke, all the time. Silly and dramatic bleeds into each other, now. And not in a good way.
