Storyline

Sister Winifred confides in Cynthia that she is not feeling as committed to midwifery as she had hoped. However she is concerned that pregnant Jewish Leah Moss's married life is dominated by caring for her mother Tzirale, who has not left their flat in twelve years. Leah believes Tzirale is still traumatised by events in Europe during the war but the arrival of the baby helps the matriarch to overcome her fear, allowing the family to move, whilst Sister Winifred regains her confidence having delivered the baby on her own. Jenny is set to spend a weekend in Brighton with Alec but he is fatally injured in a fall. Shelagh, now resigned to the fact that she cannot have children, channels her energies into organizing a choir, who sing at the funeral. Written by don @ minifie-1
