Romantic heart perhaps but poor delivery throughout (SPOILERS)

Warning: Spoilers
After a chance interaction with a man, Keri is sure that he is the one for her, and tries to will the relationship to happen.

At its heart there is a sweet film about fate, and force of will here – with two potential partners coming together because the universe wills it. As a plot it is a tough sell to someone not really taken by overly sentimental fare such as this suggests, and it puts a lot onto the film to make this plot work. Sadly there is nothing here to really make it work. The film opens with scenes of Keri walking, and the bloke playing football in the park; scenes that do go on a bit but don't add anything. The episodic structure of the film provides a few snippets to let us know what is going on, but without much dialogue it doesn't have time and nuance to really engage us with the characters. As a result it doesn't share the romantic element with the viewer – indeed it even does the opposite as we see Keri's messages convincing the target man that his current partner is not the right one. The structure also ends on the chance encounter from 6 months prior, which again adds little other than reinforcing the fact that the film is clearly working with limited resources.

This final sequences is delivered with what appears to be Windows MovieMaker's "old timey scratchy black n' white" effect (even though it is from 6 months ago in the film, not 1924). This choice of look is odd but it is only one of many examples where you wonder why the film chose a certain shot or to have a certain effect added in post- production. It is a film that looks scruffy throughout, although really the bigger failing is that it never sells its core idea or its characters.
