Whilst deep sea diving in search of his father, feared drowned, young Jason travels through a white light and ends up in the ancient city of Atlantis. Pursued by soldiers he is rescued by budding mathematician Pythagoras, who shares a house with the former hero Hercules, now an over-weight drunk. Pythagoras is selected by lottery as one of seven young people to be sacrificed to the monster the Minotaur, in the labyrinthine caverns outside the city, to ensure Atlantis's future safety. Jason opts to take his place but is joined by Pythagoras and Hercules after an unsuccessful attempt to rescue him. Fortunately Ariadne, the king's daughter, has given Jason a thread so that, after killing the Minotaur, he and his friends find their way out of the caves. Jason is declared a hero. However the Oracle, who has told Jason that he was born in Atlantis and taken away by his father when small, foretells that his return is fortuitous in order to save the city but he will be faced with even more ... Did You Know?

Hercules is the Roman form of Herakles, who was the last mortal son of Zeus, in Greek mythology. His supernatural strength was balanced by his lack of intelligence, yet while being a proud, easily offended man, he was also very loyal to his loved ones, just and penitent. He had a large appetite for food, wine and women, whilst also being a champion wrestler and unerring marksman. See more »

Once again dropping a steaming pile on mythology
30 August 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

To be honest my expectations were pretty low when I watched the pilot but the makers managed to even disappoint me despite my concerns. There may be some minor spoilers so beware. The main protagonist is pretty bland and not well fleshed out expect for the obvious "I-Lost-My-Father-Cliche"....duh. Not even three minutes in and he find himself stranded on an island with a bronze age mediterranean city full of people selling fruits and speaking perfectly English (double-duh). The plot is forwarded by slapstick action with spilling fruits all over the town and guards that attack on sight without reason. The story is painfully shallow and cliché-loaden to the brim that you can easily predict the outcome of every following scene while you sit awkward in your armchair desperately trying to avoid switching the TV channel. After 45 minutes of mind-torture you finally sigh in relief when the credits roll and you come to the conclusion that Clash of the Titans and its sequel wasn't so bad after all.
