During the take-off the captain says "81, rotate", this means that either he meant to make the typical "V1, rotate" callout or the rotation speed is just over 80 knots. Given the fact that the primary flight display on the right in the next shot appears to show the green V1 information to be above the current speed, the latter is the case. It would be impossible for the Airbus A320 to take-off at a rotation speed of just over 80 knots, as usually the rotation speed lies around 140 to 150 knots for this aircraft.

How much of this is true?

I couldn't give a good review for this documentary, as I couldn't tell who was being honest. I don't think it's a very good documentary for historical preservation of this event.

That may sound harsh, but it feels like everyone interviewed is trying to add a hero narrative to their own story. They try and make their personal involvement the most important aspect.

Very little is discussed about the pilot. It's mostly a small cross-section of passengers.

Watch the film 'Sully' instead.
