Arguably the best episode, but what was the whole point?..

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Olive has that snarky, bitter fun to her again, like in episode 1, 'Pharmacy" (figures, it's here where you get that line from the trailer about waiting for the dog to die), and we understand her family philosophy a bit better, but there is also a lot of nonsense with her being rude and whiny and her son's family being whiny period. There are also strange continuity errors with her pantihose, and with the old man's (Jack's?) pose relative to Olive and the bench in the pivotal scene. Some points of the plot are also rather inexplicable, or on the contrary predictable.

The question I have in the end is kind of: "So what was the point?" As she doesn't kill herself (and I would think she'd not have chosen the exact method she talked the guy out of in episode 2 - there's no particular irony in that the children finding you argument literally plays out with her, she would've sought for a different place), the series ends quite randomly. We don't get a sense of "Ok, so that's how Olive Kitteridge lived and died", instead it's: "So... I guess she's going to remarry an equally bitter man, or just date him?.. But... How does that help?.. Are her final words about life her beating her lifelong depression?.." Was there never any point?..
