A film with heart
webnoodle1 September 2016
The Journey is a film with heart, set within the beautiful scenery of Greece. This film gets you thinking and will ring true for many people, with its touching scenes of love and loss, told over a fantastic sunset or two. Great performances, especially the enigmatic Jason Flemyng. Great and so natural as always.

The Journey is filled with great moments, and leaves you feeling a sense of closure you can relate to. Although as the film puts it, "Life is not a puzzle to be solved, it's a Mystery to be lived."

Live the mystery of Greece, and the mystery of life, in the Journey. Thank you to all the cast and crew that obviously put their heart and souls into this film.

Dynamic and thought provoking

The Journey is a beautiful depiction of love and loss and how we each interpret our grief and how we cope and survive through that. Touching, heart-warming and other worldly. A lovely visual piece of storytelling told through the stunning vistas of Greece with mysticism intertwined with reality.

A very touching film!

I have just watched this film which I thoroughly enjoyed and even shed a tear at the end (which is most unlike me). It is based on a true story which holds a lot of sadness but there are humorous and uplifting moments too. Everything to make a really good film which this certainly is.

It is beautifully acted by a very strong cast and directed by Lance S A Nielsen. I adored the shots of the idyllic Greek Island which added to the magic of the film.

A special film to watch if you are suffering from loss or grief which gives a strong message at the end.

I certainly recommend this film and have given it 9 stars.

Well done to everybody in the making of The Journey!!

A beautiful touching film

The Journey was a beautiful film that deeply resonated with me. I was overwhelmed with grief and was given it to watch. It was the most cathartic film experience I've ever had, the way it captured the raw grief of some of the characters and the journey it takes them on touched me... The story lines, the characters, the location and the cinematography made it a beautiful experience especially if you're going through the grief process... I do not want to say too much as the film tells it's own story and I don't want to spoil the plot but the way it was weaved together and the feeling there was more going on held my attention. You'll just have to watch it and see for yourself. Lovely film... Thank you

A thoughtful but engrossing film ticks along at the right pace.

A film you need to watch several times. There's so much in it. Thoughtful and valuable insights for living. Beautiful played by the ensemble and not afraid to bring in some of the political backdrop of the times. All in all worth one's time and then some. Some of it is so familiar as if you are on the holiday or sojourn yourself. The director gets the balance right between telling the story and enabling the scenes to unfold almost at a languorous pace, perfect for the setting. Performances are never out of place and this is held up by the excellent script which for me is the key to unlock the film's overall message.

Good writing is all.

The Journey is a beautiful film which encompasses characters who are experiencing a loss that they are struggling to overcome. The film is set in Greece with it's breathtaking scenery, a peaceful quality that gives the film a calming resolution. This feeling is ignited in the characters. A true heart felt film and a pleasure to watch.

Captivating and a hit home story
mattgray422 November 2016
I was fortunate enough to have the privilege to watch this movie. I feel i will not be able to do this movie justice with the words to describe it other than. Fantastic, tear jerking, masterpiece. I do not choose these words lightly. But this film gripped me from the get go. The film follows the story mainly of three men who are dealing with a loss in their own way. It follows the men on dealing with their pain and how they can find a way to move on.

I personally did not want the story to end. it had me gripped, laughing even crying at one point as i could relate to the characters. Its fitting that the movie is called 'The Journey' as i felt i was on the journey with the characters. Hats off to the whole team of cast, crew, director writer Lance Neilsen. It takes a true skill to be able to capture the full attention from an audience. This is truly a must see movie. Watch out for the cast and director. I have no doubt there will be more incredible movies to watch in the years to come.

Review of the film 'The Journey'

Warning: Spoilers
A very honest and truthful depiction of the complexities of grieving. An extremely touching film that handles the subject matter very cleverly: in embedding the piece with humour whilst not giving definitive answers to the issues at hand, makes it very relatable to a wider audience. Congratulations to Lance Nielsen. A beautiful film, well worth the watch!!

A beautiful, thoughtful meditation on grief, beauty, life and love.
bub10-128 February 2017
I was lucky enough to see this film at the St. Tropez Film Festival where Lance Nielsen won Best Directing honors -- and I see why. What he has accomplished is so subtle -- so beautiful -- and, for me, so timely and insightful -- that it's nothing short of magic. I came to this beautiful story at a time of transition and loss. The stories of loss juxtaposed against the eternal beauty of the Greek landscape -- giving the characters and us time to explore what grief means -- and how we find the strength to move on -- to embrace life again -- was so powerful and cathartic. It is one of those films I could watch over and over again and get something powerful out of every time I watch it. A masterpiece!

Incredible Journey
tasoulaz1 September 2016
''The Journey'' is an amazing travel through beautiful images of Greece. Three men of different backgrounds and with their own personal stories of loss that led them to an island of Greece. Stories, that a lot of us may relate to and they will definitely be incredibly moved from the way the director and the talented cast so realistically relive and reveal for each character. A mystery connection between them will evolve through the film, keeping you wondering until the end! Well written twist, humor, drama, mystery and a real approach of Greece's current situation! Absolutely stunning light, scenery and pictures of Greece will literally put your mind on its own journey! Jason Flemyng is magnificent and Duncan Pow truly moved us with his emotional performance.

A Wonderful Piece
kyrstenarnold15 June 2019
The Journey is a lovely story about love, loss, and the importance of community. There is an amazing attention to detail throughout the story and a message about humanity that is sure to touch anyone who watches. There are a few plot points that are a bit too subtle, but if one pays close attention they will be able to fully grasp the full story.

Beautiful, moving and cathartic
angela_dixon10 February 2017
The Journey touches your heart through a process of gentle osmosis. It follows 3 men who's lives are interconnected through their experience of loss. Shot in Greece it is visually stunning and beautifully acted it transports you to a place where personal fantasy, beliefs and reality collide. What emerges is a sensitive, intelligent story of grief, loss and love. Having lost the most important person in my life it was deeply resonant and cathartic. In a part of the world where we don't talk about grief it was a refreshing and brave story that allows us to honour our own loss. I thoroughly recommend it. Looking forward to seeing more from Lance Neilsen

An aid for grieving.
rachelwarren118 January 2018
What a touching film. Set in Greece the film is beautifully shot and sychronises with the characters stories so powerfully. The actors were superb!! I watched this film as it was a recommendation due to the fact I have been suffering from grief and trying to adapt to loosing 3 very close people in the space of just one month. The film bought me to tears to begin with but as we follow the journeys of the three characters I learnt that just like them, we are all here together, we will all loose loved ones in our lives and the film really does become very deep and personal keeping the viewers educated on knowing that if you are suffering- YOU ARE NOT ALONE. The emotions one goes through are like none I have ever experienced... I went through every step of the healing process just like these characters... what a film. The ending is magical - I will not deny, I was a little nervous to watch this at first as my personal experiences are so raw.... but by then end of this film I sensed a "we can do this" attitude and felt rather overwhelmed with positivity and strength. Its definitely one to watch.

A wonderful exploration of grief and love
matthew-17-7211072 December 2016
Lance's film 'The Journey' is a wonderful exploration of love, loss and grief shot against the stunning vistas of Greece. Aside from being a visual treat, it is also a multi-layered story that follows several men who are connected by their own experiences of tragic loss and coming to terms with their past. Their paths intersect and cross, each discovering and learning. This is clearly a very personal film for the director, and despite some difficult production hurdles he has crafted an earnest film with a big heart. Whilst certainly an unconventional narrative, this is a film for audiences who are seeking something deeper in their entertainment, and it's a film that will stick with you long after it's finished. Highly recommended viewing!

Great Film

I loved The Journey! There is so much wisdom to be taken away! Brilliant landscapes throughout the film. All in all, The Journey finely captures the human condition and demonstrates our capacity to come to terms with loss however difficult. A subtle and clever film.
