Great film making
gardieca16 September 2014
I'm a real fan of film noir, and also fond of crime stories, so I must say a film like Betibu had to catch my attention. The film does work as a thriller, the actors are really superb, especially Mercedes Moran and Daniel Fanego, can't say the same about Jose Coronado or Alberto Amman, probably they try to do their best bus the result is not remarkable. But the main strength of the movie comes from the powerful narrative dominion director has. The characters are complicated, interesting, believable, funny, and deeply human. It's lovely watching it in Spanish, though Argentinians speak their own Spanish, and enjoy the brilliant dialog between all the characters. Highly recommended.

Nice thriller co-produced by Argentina/Spain with suspense , intrigue and plot twists
ma-cortes8 January 2021
A day like any other , at a luxurious suburban neighborhood , a wealthy man named Pedro Chazarreta is found murdered . But previously this powerful businessman was the prime suspect of having killed his wife . The editor of the most known newspaper of Argentina , Jose Coronado, assigns the known novelist and retired journalist Nurit Iscar ,alias Betibu : Mercedes Moran to investigate and to write about it . She along with other two journalists : Daniel Faraldo , Alberto Ammann investigate the strange deeds and discover terrible happenings with unexpected consequences . The Crime Was Just The Beginning ! .

Crime thriler with plenty of intrigue , suspenseful and red herrings . A nice thriller based on the homonymous novel by Claudia Piñeiro with script by director himself Miguel Cohen and his sister Ana Cohen . This intriguing fim mingles corruption, murders and journalistic investigation . Stars Mercedes Moran who outstands giving an excelent acting as well as Daniel Fanego and Alberto Amman . This trio of protagonists are well accompanied by a fine support cast , such as: Norman Briski , Marina Bellati and Jose Coronado.

The picture was well and professionally directed by Miguel Cohen . This is his second film after "Sin Retorno" also co-written by his sister Ana Cohen . It won several prizes, such as : winner Award of the Argentinean Academy , Best screenplay : Ana Cohen, Miguel Cohan , Best Film , Best Director , Best actor : Daniel Fanego, Best Actress : Mercedes Moran , Best Supporting Actress : Carola Reyna , Best Music : Federico Jusid and Best Sound . As well as Argentinean Film Critics Association Awards 2015 Winner, Best Screenplay Adapted and Nominee : Best actress Mercedes Moran , Best Supporting actor : Daniel Fanego and Best Editing .

Betty Boop

Warning: Spoilers
With its connection to the excellent The Secret in their Eyes, I was immediately interested in seeing this film in the London Film Festival.

Most of the film plays out as an investigative thriller, not too dissimilar to the well made TV equivalents. The whole knits well, with the right type of cast.

And like some of the TV equivalents, it somewhat flatters to deceive. Very little is said, other than the powerful are secretive and weird, and that there are shadowy forces.

The end is left open, but it is fairly obvious that their investigation will be terminated.

This movie is a crime thriller with a nice cast and a plot that develops during all the runtime. So is a great movie if u are a fan of detective movies, or cop movies.

Also mercedes moran looks really beautiful in the movie(she is the main character)and is worth to see her play a really smart writer who works for a small newspaper.
