A group of young people are all awaiting the release of the latest and greatest sneaker. And, like a blockbuster film, these folks are willing to stay up all night in order to be among the first to get these hot new shoes. However, this wait ends up turning into a riot when racial tensions well up in the crowd.
"Hypebeast" is a technically well made film with some potential. The notion of a group of Asian and Black kids coming to blows is pretty novel for a film. But the problem is that EVERYONE in the film is very crude and unlikable. Sure, teens talk the way they do in this film with lots and lots of obscenities, but after a while it just becomes too much because there really is no connection between the characters and the audience...none.
