A sleepy village in Hungarian speaking Transylvania, the occupants well past eighty years old. The last place you would expect for scandal. Except here the last men left are desperately wooing the 25 widows, the process of which leads to many stories told both shocking and sweet... Written by
Hilarious, thought-provoking, full of life, death and humanity
Was fortunate enough to watch and understand this documentary in its unspoiled native language and accent. I am proud to call that broader region by birthplace. I can only imagine what impression could this piece of art leave on someone foreign to that culture, tradition and those times so vividly recalled by the subjects. Based on the trailer I was so looking forward to watch it in all its glory and was certainly not disappointed. It seems slow in places, but earnest and unspoiled through and through. Hilarious in a one moment, but drowning in sorrow in the next. It provokes you think about human nature and how we let it be imprisoned by society and expectations. Will watch it again at the TIFF, definitely a film festival material.
