A newspaper article was made on the success of the film's Best Director in a Short Film win. In addition to that, an article is posted on the Five Towns College website as well.
The film has been accepted to 11 film festivals. Some international festivals, but also a good amount in the U.S.. It has also won 6 awards, including Best Director in a Short Film at the 5th Annual New York International Film Festival. It was also nominated for 3 awards at the Five Towns College Luminary Awards, but won none.
While cutting the film after the 5th day of shooting, the desk in which the external drive was kept with all media... accidentally shook, and the hard drive fell off. The damage from the impact made the disks within the drive completely unreadable, and those 5 days were lost. And at the same time... the director's Mother, JoAnn DiMaso, was battling both Breast and Lung Cancer. Rather than scrap the project completely... the entire cast and crew became that more committed to restarting shooting the film, and making sure that this film succeeded. After many months of hard work shooting, and post production, the film was officially made. To this day, Tony will always be thankful to the cast and crew for all their love and support throughout the difficult journey in making the film. Both the cast and crew are officially family to the DiMaso family for life.
While attending Five Towns College in Dix Hills, NY, director Tony DiMaso wrote The Harbor Story for class as part of a lab assignment. The original script was 5 pages, which then grew to 7. He also decided that The Harbor Story was going to be his official senior thesis project.
