Timed Perfectly

Maybe I'm struggling with my own spit and this show distracts me from it. I'm adult enough to avoid mindless weekly pining for perfection to happify life.

This all needlessly explained: Holy crap on horse-faced-stars that was good.

It seemed all we needed was a maniacal control freak back in charge to get zingers zinging again.

Crap, that's not my cure-all to things that I write that look insulting. Genuine love intended. I read the interviews (like the awesome, female-hiring, four-parting, onion spectaculars) where Mr. H shows what he used to put in. But I also believe that the effort and grace that the principle writing and production staff put in on their gap year (sorry, open goal) was some of the better US comedy TV last season.

What's almost immediately present in "Repilot" is just a clear statement of intent. This is some serious spit, this comedy thing, and these people have their (forgive me, Senna, for saying this) ... they have their Jeff back.

Maybe Dan H is a total douche, maybe he's the messiah, maybe his pitch to relaunch Black Books with Richard Ayoade as a creepy-recurring-regular in store fell through. Whatever! This was awesome, and the second episode is as strong as my references to things I like are completely unsubtle in this review.
