This series protagonist is Akari Taiyo; a twelve year old girl who finds herself being chosen to be one of the select few who wield tarot-power basically she is a magic girl. Those with this power must fight the Daemonia who plague the Earth. Akari fights alongside Seira, Luna and Ginka although they are suspicious of her when she claims to hear the Daemonia they are fighting believing anything that causes them to sympathise with their enemies is dangerous. As the series progresses things become more dangerous; they learn that if they fight the Daemonia with the corresponding card both will vanish; it also emerges that it is possible for them to be tricked into becoming Daemonia themselves if they are all to survive they must stick by each other and have faith in themselves.
This isn't a bad series but one can't help comparing it to 'Madoka Magica' as both are series that show being a magical girl as a hard and dangerous life and in any comparison this series will come off worse. The central story is enjoyable, the action scenes are fairly well done and the characters are likable even if the victory through the power of friendship message is more than a little cliché. The animation and character design is bright and cheery which provides a nice contrast to the darker emotional tone of many episodes. Overall I'd say this is a decent series and it is certainly worth watching if you are a fan of the magic girl genre.
