A tender and tough film of Belén Macías.
26 May 2016 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

'Marseille" is a drama, or a hopeful story starring "Sara" (Maria Leon), which retrieves her daughter given in foster care after having lost it for her drinking problem. The girl, "Claire", accompanies her biological mother in a sudden trip to Marseille to meet his father, who left before she was born. During this journey the movie responds to the format of 'Road-Film', they stumble upon "Virginia", Claire's adoptive mother, who for various reasons will accompany until the end of the road.

Belén Macías, proud director of 'Marseille' is best known for his work on TV than on the big screen. But what is undeniable is that the manners, the intimate, is their thing, and feels really comfortable between characters, of which you see on the street, and they have so deep and heartbreaking stories that shrink the heart.

This "road movie" leads us to the depths of the human heart, the hand of a fully armed and amazing script, about masterfully directed a leisurely narrative actors, and an address with a firm and subtle pulse, as only the hand of an artist (female) could have.

This tender and hard film, you gradually delve into a very interesting topic: what is the true love.

"Marseille" has a strong social criticism, the film shows us a devastating reality, about lost opportunities and the desire to recover them.
