Joe Mantegna and Mark Hamill are two of only three actors to play both themselves and a fictional character on The Simpsons (1989). Coincidentally, they both appear in "The Simpsons: Mayored to the Mob (1998)".

Mark Hamill's daughter Chelsea is a fan of the show, and when he was offered the role of John Curtis, she was thrilled to learn that, because his role had been hinted at all season, he would be playing the Replicator.
In the cemetery scene following Strauss's funeral, there is a headstone that has clearly been altered to show the name "Stabler". The placard showing the name is obviously too big for the headstone, and is made of a different material than the rest of the stone as well.
