WWE Battleground 2014 Predictions

19 July 2014 3:21 PM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

WWE Battleground is smack in the middle of Money in the Bank and SummerSlam — right between two of the biggest shows of the year. Because of that, this will be a throwaway event with little change or much excitement. Storylines will be built here and a clearer picture of SummerSlam will be made by the end of the night. Here are predictions of what should be happening at this less-than-stellar, but purposeful WWE event.

Pre-Show Match Cameron vs. Naomi

Naomi proved to me that she can have a great divas match at Money in the Bank 2014 and I look forward to seeing more of her. This is a grudge that I suppose we’re supposed to care about because of the history of these two as Funkadactyls, but I mainly just want to see Naomi win and move on to bigger things. Plus, I’m sure Jimmy Uso has taught »

WWE: 10 Questions You Most Want Answered (July 19)

19 July 2014 1:23 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

This Sunday night is WWE’s Battleground PPV, which was an October show last year that WWE felt the need to move to July this year. It was smart of WWE to put a PPV in between Money in the Bank and SummerSlam because those are bigger shows. This one is more of a transitional show although it should be pretty good too.

It would be a surprise if John Cena didn’t leave Battleground with the WWE Title. We know that WWE has already sent out advertising for Cena vs. Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. There’s no reason to change it or take the WWE Title off Cena three weeks after he won it.

The midcard matches at Battleground are stronger than midcard matches at the last couple of PPVs. The two that stand out are Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt. »

Cm Punk’s 10 Best WWE Matches

19 July 2014 4:31 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

It is now official. Cm Punk is no longer an employee of the WWE. Cm Punk’s contract from the company has expired and he is now a free man. Cm Punk came into the WWE in 2005 making his main roster debut in 2006. From that point onward, he would gain millions of fans that admired his rebellious attitude towards authority and much more. More importantly though, Cm Punk is arguably one of the best wrestlers to have stepped foot inside the squared circle in the last decade or so. There’s a reason he calls himself ” The Best in the World”, because he really is that good.

Sadly, Cm Punk’s run in WWE ended so abruptly as he quit without saying a proper goodbye. The only type of goodbye Cm Punk said to his fans was only thanking them on Twitter. It would have been better if »

WWE Teases Brock Lesnar Replacing ‘Injured’ Seth Rollins At Battleground?

15 July 2014 3:11 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Monday Night Raw teased the idea that Brock Lesnar could be a factor at this Sunday’s Battleground. The show also told the story that Seth Rollins injured his knee in the Raw main event. According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Radio, that was just storyline, Rollins wasn’t injured.

In putting the Lesnar tease and the kayfabe Rollins injury together, could this be an angle to give Brock Lesnar a shock return at Battleground? Earlier on Raw the commentators referenced that Paul Heyman had been missing from the show all night, he hadn’t been around to mentor Cesaro in his match. Later that night, Triple H finally found Heyman. The manager then told Hunter that he had been biding his time, saying that he had a “Plan C” if the Authority required it.

This was an interesting exchange and an obvious foreshadowing of Brock Lesnar. »

WWE Battleground Latest – 7 Matches Announced

9 July 2014 11:17 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Following Monday’s edition of Raw there were only three matches that were official for WWE’s Battleground pay-per-view on July 20 in Tampa. After last night’s Smackdown and Main Event tapings we can add four matches to the official lineup to make it seven.

Here’s what we knew officially after Raw.

WWE World Heavyweight Title Fatal 4-Way: John Cena vs. Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton vs. Kane.  That’s the clear main event. Nothing else on this card is really close to it in terms of its stature.

WWE Intercontinental Title Battle Royal: Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Rob Van Dam, Big E, Alberto Del Rio, Fandango, Sheamus, Cesaro, Damien Sandow, The Great Khali, Ryback, Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. There are 13 names. The key addition is Sheamus, who is already the Us Champion. He could add the Ic Title to the Us Title he already has. »

WWE Battleground Early Preview – 7 Matches That Will Take Place

7 July 2014 12:44 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

One big criticism of the WWE writing team is that aside from the main storyline, they do not book long-term for their Pay Per Views. The shows are then littered with thrown-together matches with little-to-no backstory. No show was this more evident than last year’s Battleground, which had last-minute advertised matches like Santino Marella and Great Khali against The Real Americans, Curtis Axel against R-Truth, and Bray Wyatt against Kofi Kingston. It was one of the worst Pay Per Views of the year in 2013.

With only three weeks between Money in the Bank and this year’s Battleground, WWE could have gone a similar route by only booking three or four major matches and throwing together random matches to fill up the rest of the card. Instead, in one night, on a fantastic Raw from Hartford, Connecticut, the WWE writing team set the stage for an entire card for the next show. »

WWE: 10 Questions You Most Want Answered (July 5)

4 July 2014 11:59 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

This week was an eventful one as WWE held their annual Money in the Bank pay-per-view that ended with John Cena winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title. It was his 15th WWE/World Title and the company has already started talking about how he might be their greatest champion ever. The other news from that show was that Seth Rollins won the Mitb contract ladder match, which will allow him to cash in the coveted briefcase on the WWE Champion at any time in the next year.

The next night on Raw, WWE delivered what may have been their best edition of their flagship show in 2014. It’s right up there with the night after WrestleMania at least. There were the surprise returns of Chris Jericho, The Miz and Aj Lee. We also saw turns for Jack Swagger & Zeb Colter while it looks like Paige might join the dark side too. »

10 Ways To Book John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar At WWE SummerSlam 2014

4 July 2014 12:54 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

WWE fans were sent into a frenzy last week when an image of the Summerslam 2014 DVD cover leaked online featuring Brock Lesnar and the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena. While a Cena victory at Money In The Bank seemed inevitable, the poster killed any dream booking scenarios which involved someone besides Cena pulling down the two championship titles. The groundwork for the summer feud between the conqueror of the streak and the now 15-time World Champion was set on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

The Authority gave Cena two options if they were going to support him as champion: the easy way, or the hard way. Since Cena is a fighting champion and seems to overcome the odds each night, he took the hard way and now there is a fatal-four-way match for the championship at Battleground.

More Names Added To WWE Battleground Battle Royal For Ic Title

2 July 2014 8:17 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

The Intercontinental Title is up for grabs following the bad news that Bad News Barrett will need shoulder injury after he was thrown into the barricade by Jack Swagger last week on Smackdown. Because of that, WWE announced on Raw that the Ic Title would be vacated. To determine the new winner, there will be a Battle Royal at Battleground probably because WWE thinks it sounds good.

There have been several Battle Royals in the past few months. At WrestleMania there was the Battle Royal for the Andre The Giant Memorial Trophy that was won by Cesaro. Then there was a Us Title Battle Royal that Sheamus won on Raw as a way to get the title off Dean Ambrose. A few weeks ago on Raw, Roman Reigns won a Battle Royal to gain entry in the Money in the Bank ladder match for the WWE Title. It seems like »

The WWE Main Roster Report: Part 3 – The Mid-Card

2 July 2014 7:01 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

The WWE main roster is always changing, some wrestlers leave for whatever reason happens to cause their departure, some wrestlers move up the card because management wants to give them a push and some wrestlers move downwards, or stay still, sometimes merely because the creative team has a lack of ideas for their television character.

The last twelve months have been memorable and a lot has happened to the main WWE roster since June of 2013. So, let’s take a look at the main superstars who are on the main stage of WWE, rate them, and look at how their future in WWE looks at this moment.

The grading system is as follows:

A+ – Is/Should be one of the main faces of WWE. A true star.

10 WWE Predictions For Seth Rollins As Mr Money In The Bank

1 July 2014 12:36 PM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

For all the things WWE has done wrong lately, one thing they’ve absolutely nailed has been the dissolution of The Shield. While tearing the group apart during their hottest period felt like a gutpunch to the fans, especially when it appeared there was no clear reasoning or direction behind the breakup, the fact that all three men are in even better positions afterward is a testament to how strong the booking for Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns has been.

It was always obvious that Roman Reigns was being targeted as the next megastar for WWE, a face they want to build the company around, and Ambrose seemed like a surefire bet as a top heel for years to come. But there was always some trepidation that Seth Rollins might be the odd man out when the trio did finally go their separate ways. Thanks to some solid creative, »

‘WWE Money in the Bank 2014′ Results & Review

1 July 2014 12:38 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

One of the more interesting of WWE’s annual b-shows, Money in the Bank is the night of the year where a younger talent has the chance to grab the contract that sets them up for a built-in storyline and eventual chance at winning the WWE World Title. Here, there are two ladder matches, one for the contract and one for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Daniel Bryan, who was forced to relinquish his WWE World Title due to a neck injury, appeared on the pre-show/kick-off show and told the world that he was still suffering effects of his injury and may still require further surgery, Bryan then promised he would be back as soon as he could and win back the WWE World Title. Time will tell, but I have a sinking feeling that Bryan’s time as “the guy” are behind us.

8 Things WWE Did Right At Money In The Bank

WWE.com

The WWE’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view provided us with several memorable moments thanks a fantastic contract ladder match and a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

John Cena’s victory in the main event led to him becoming a World Champion in WWE for the 15 time in his career. It sounded as if WWE was ready to start labeling him as the “greatest champion in WWE history” at the end of the show, which is likely a tag line they’re going to use in the build up to what should be a huge SummerSlam match against Brock Lesnar. That will take place after July’s Battleground event, which is coming off like a secondary PPV sandwiched between two major ones.

In addition to Cena’s win, Seth Rollins was the victor in the contract ladder match. Heading into the match, Rollins seemed like the obvious winner. »

10 Best Moments From Money In The Bank 2014 PPV

WWE.com

Money In The Bank has fast become one of the most important dates on the WWE PPV calender, gaining equal importance to that of the Royal Rumble or Summerslam due to the titular Money In The Bank ladder match.

This year’s was no different, with the WWE fans getting not just one ladder match for that lucrative contract for a title shot, but another for the vacated WWE World Heavyweight championship. An injured Daniel Bryan meant he was forced to vacate the strap, leaving a handful of wrestling’s hottest prospects in a desperate scramble for the top prize.

In a list of great moments from this pay per view, the two ladder matches dominate the list by their very nature, but there are several moments in there from the undercard that were welcome surprises.

John Cena Becomes 15 Time WWE Champion At Money In The Bank

30 June 2014 3:35 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

WWE Money In The Bank was an entertaining show, a night in which WWE made various booking moves to set the scene for their summer storylines. The biggest development was John Cena winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title, his 15th major championship to date. The commentary instantly referred to him as the greatest WWE superstar ever, a line likely fed from Vince McMahon backstage, a line Vince probably believes. You’d surely expect the 37 year old Cena to have at least another couple of title reigns in the next two years, which would beat Nature Boy Ric Flair’s vaunted 16 world title reign record.

The reason for the Cena win was to facilitate a summer feud between himself and Brock Lesnar. The Beast made clear at the start of the year that he was going after the WWE world title, he is booked for SummerSlam and WWE have »

Daniel Bryan Could Be Out Injured For The Rest Of 2014

WWE.com

Daniel Bryan announced on the Money In The Bank pre-show that he is possibly going to need a second neck surgery. The reason for this is that Bryan hasn’t recovered any strength in his arm after his original May 15th surgery. Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio believes Bryan’s announcement was legitimate, commenting that this a very worrying problem for Bryan’s status in WWE. Bryan vowed to return at some stage, but with a second surgery looming, this could see Bryan on the recovery bench for the rest of 2014.

“I would think that if he had another surgery, it’s probably going to be a six month to a year thing,” Meltzer said on Bryan’s predicament.

Given that WWE and Bryan didn’t give any definite answers at Money In The Bank, they’re probably still unsure themselves. They’ll try to avoid a second surgery if need be, »

WWE Money In The Bank Results: 5 Biggest Winners & 5 Losers

30 June 2014 12:26 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

WWE.com

Money In The Bank 2014 is in the books, and it was a lackluster show to say the least. The problem with stacking so many of your top stars in one or two matches is that you’re forced to fill out the rest of the card with bland matchups, and when you’ve done a poor job developing your midcard talent, that can lead to a dull show.

With six top guys in the briefcase match and another eight in the championship contest, we were left with the likes of Adam Rose, Damien Sand…er, Paul Revere and a second divas contest to “entertain” us. There were a few hits here and there, but an awful lot of misses dragged down the show.

That being said, a couple of matches really delivered, with one being exceptional, so it wasn’t a total write-off. Some may have their complaints »

WWE Money in the Bank 2014 reactions and what’s next

29 June 2014 8:44 PM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

One of the best (if not the best) WWE pay-per-views in the past few years, Money in the Bank has come and gone and it certainly lived up to expectations. The men most predicted to win their respective ladder matches based on predictions and betting odds have won their matches, which were both very entertaining to watch. The next few months and especially the big SummerSlam picture is definitely becoming more clear.

The best Omg! moment during the Money in the Bank contract match would have to be the superplex off the top of a ladder with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins — those two will be in highlight reels for years to come. During the WWE World Heavyweight championship ladder match, there was a cool spot where a ladder was wedged between the steps and then served as a foundation for an angled ladder which saw Cesaro hanging on for dear life. »
