With tequila clouding her thoughts, Mary Jane tries to resolve, and gain closure, with the man who got away, and the woman who she nearly took everything from.

Sadly, and strangely, it seems Being Mary Jane will only be 9 episodes, but it is renewed. As for this season finale, pretty much all of the stories, and drama we saw, in terms of Mary Jane's relationships, get resolved and seemingly get a stamp put on them. So, perhaps this maybe goodbye to David and Andre, or just simply a pause. We, sadly, won't find out until whenever Being Mary Jane returns.

Topic 1: Closure

For Mary Jane, it seems David will always be the one who got away. She even admits it to herself, Andre was nothing but a placeholder, and when you put the two men side by side, you can understand why she chose Andre as a rebound. He was what she wanted in David. Someone willing to give up everything for her, someone attentive, and someone who didn't really play a lot of cat and mouse games with her heart. And, mind you, I'm not saying Andre was the best choice, especially since I still think he played MJ and his wife by sleeping with both, but what you expect of a rebound? One which almost went too far?

But, even with her acknowledging what Andre was, it doesn't improve the situation with David. Yes, he knows about the sperm, and we find out Lisa let it slip, and yes we find out their relationship was anything but perfect, but dammit, she is his crazy chick, and he is the man that drives her mad. For her, it worked. For him, it was like she was his addiction. And after years of relapsing he has moved on and all Mary Jane can do is throw insults like he can't handle a Black woman and, at the end of the day, all she seems to be able to do is admit that what she wants with David she can't have. And though I'm not sure if friendship is out of the question, a relationship is, and with that, David's time is done.

Topic 2: Resolve

However, with David not being an option, there is still one more issue to take care of: Andre. So, while Lisa may have been along for the ride when it comes to the David situation, she swaps places with Kara who forces Mary Jane to apologize to Avery. After all, Kara was the woman cheated on and though she will say in a heartbeat she deserved it, that is just her means of coping. But, with her talent, and friend, being the other woman, she gives to Avery what Kara couldn't have. An apology and advice. Said advice being what you were doing wrong so that the man, Andre, who seemingly is vindicated, won't stray again. And with this, Mary Jane seemingly ends her pursuit of Andre.

Topic 3: Forgiveness

And all this cumulates to her forgiving herself. She has allowed her mind to become desperate to the point of stealing a man's sperm and asking her friend to inseminate her; her craving for love, affection, and a family, has allowed her to take all that away from another woman; and the biggest thing she seemingly is forgiving herself for is straying away from her ideals and morals. So, rather than continuing a pursuit of a man in a unhappy marriage, the one who got away and now has someone new, or even using the one who got away's sperm and getting a piece of the family she wanted; instead she has decided to let go. Leaving us with Mary Jane signing off the season with a genuine smile, and maybe a load of guilt and regrets now off her shoulders.
