Storyline

Sheldon has just learned that his favorite television show, Alphas (2011) has been canceled after two seasons on the air. What's inconceivable about the situation is that the second season ended on a cliffhanger, meaning that he will never learn what happened after that. Amy believes that Sheldon's issue is that his compulsive self needs closure. Being a neuroscientist, she believes she can help him break that need. Although he doesn't think he has a problem, he allows her to perform her therapy on him. This process will either cure him, or tear them apart. Meanwhile, Raj finds an on-line blog that Lucy has written, describing their relationship. Although he finds it a little creepy to read it - likening it to reading someone's diary - he can't help but read it anyway. Howard convinces him to use the information contained in the blog for his own carnal advantage with Lucy. And Penny can't understand why Leonard gets so excited by what she considers the little, insignificant things in ... Written by Huggo

Trivia

Amy knocks the rhythm "Shave and a haircut", which Sheldon must answer with "two bits" as an example of his compulsive need for closure. Judge Doom keeps knocking on the wall "Shave and a haircut" to find Roger Rabbit in the movie 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit?' because Toons in that universe can't help finishing the line with "two bits". Quotes

[first lines]
Sheldon Cooper: Oh dear! Penny, have you been recording shows on our DVR again?
Penny: No.
Sheldon Cooper: Answer honestly; this is not a trial. That'll come later.
Penny: Absolutely not.
[quietly to Leonard]
Penny: Help me out here; I can't afford another demerit.
Leonard Hofstadter: Uh, maybe we were hacked. You know, the Chinese have been hacking everything lately.
Sheldon Cooper: Why would the Chinese make our DVR record 'Paul Blart: Mall Cop'?
Leonard Hofstadter: I don't know... It's a fat guy on a Segway; that's funny everywhere.

"The Closure Alternative" was another very funny ep of "The Big Bang Theory"
1 May 2013 | by (Baton Rouge, La.) – See all my reviews

In this last ep of "The Big Bang Theory": Sheldon finds out that "Alphas" was cancelled without resolving the cliffhanger and that galls him so Amy tries to cure him of his closure issues by not finishing tic-tac-toe, depriving him of knocking down dominoes, or not saying the last word of "The Star Spangled Banner". Meanwhile, Raj finds out about Lucy's blog and is miffed when she describes him as "feminine". I'll stop there and just say this was another hilarious ep of this, my favorite current show, and the characterizations are, as always, right on target. Oh, and I also loved the story of Leonard and Penny's discussion of his showing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" to her even though she simply thinks it's "okay".
