A slice of creativity with a side of hipster
14 September 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This is a gay hipster's delight; set in Silverlake (note: NOT LA) the series centers on the relationship of two gay millennials following advent of their newly discovered infidelity. The writing is extremely creative in that it flows but not in a linear way. The dialogue and characters are very believable...but not all the actors are. Constance Wu (Fresh of the Boat) is AMAZING and shows her versatility, range and overall professionalism throughout. Unfortunately for her, she was paired with John Halbach (the writer/producer's real-life boyfriend) who is sadly just not believable as a straight man, and there is no real chemistry between them at all. In fact, the rest of the actors seem a bit amateurish, in that...well, let's face it; it's just not hard for a gay man to play a gay man going through problems. And unfortunately, the whole abortion theme comes off as way too preachy...especially for a gay themed series (note to all aspiring writers: stick with what you know). but worth a watch if you want some mild entertainment without the big-budget merchandising/product placement etc.
