Perversion Stories (2002)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Excellent 17-minute featurette from David Gregory and Blue Underground. Jess Franco, Harry Alan Towers, Christopher Lee and Marie Liljedahl are on hand to discuss EUGENIE...THE STORY OF HER JOURNEY INTO PERVERSION, the cult classic film that many consider one of the director's best movies. Franco talks about how they decided to film this particular de Sade story and why it was so hard to try and adapt it without going into hardcore areas. The director also talks about casting the film, its eventual release in America as well as the shooting time. Producer Towers discusses how he managed to get Lee to do the picture and it's pretty clear that Lee had no idea what he was getting himself into. Lee thought he just had a small two-day part until a friend told him that he had top-billing for an adult movie. Lee then figure out that after he had left the set Franco shot nude scenes to make it look like he was in on them. This is a pretty funny story and it doesn't see that Lee is too upset about it. It's also nice hearing from Liljedahl who talks about what it was like doing nudity and what the violence in the film meant to her. If you're a fan of this movie then you're certainly going to enjoy watching this featurette as there are all sorts of great stories and one gets a very good idea of what it was like to be on the set for this strange trip.
