The gang is heading to the Farhampton Inn for Robin and Barney's nuptials. Marshall has picked Marvin up in St. Cloud and is flying back to New York. A photo of Marshall and Marvin that Judy has just posted on the Internet has the potential to ruin Marshall and Lily's marriage if Lily sees it, and may also threaten Marshall's ability to make it back to New York in time for the wedding. Ted and Lily are driving out to Farhampton together. Ted wants the trip to be the best road trip ever, but his idea and Lily's idea of a fun road trip are totally different. When Lily and the Mother are on the Long Island Rail Road, another train is seen passing them through the window. The LIRR uses a third-rail while the passing train is equipped with an overhead pantograph. It is in fact a Connex commuter train from Melbourne, Australia. See more »

The Mother: [about Ted's slow driving] That would drive me crazy. I would give him an embarrassing nickname until he stops driving like a little girl.
Narrator: It was Lady Tedwina Slowsby. And it worked.

The beginning of an end
24 September 2013 | by (Ireland) – See all my reviews

Just a quick summation of Season 8:

I personally thought season 8 was the most inferior in comparison to the rest of the seasons. Saying that, it was still quite enjoyable and a few exceptions stood out from the rest of the episodes. So I would have agreed that it's time to start finishing up the series on a good note while still possible.

This episode was indeed a nice start to the final season. It definitely evoked some of the old HIMYM laughter I've been absent from for the last few months.

We finally get an insight on the future Mrs. Mosby's character and I can imagine most viewers will be satisfied.

A new complication has arisen between Barney and Robin, briefly placing an obstacle in the way of their sexual relationship.

There were quite a few amusing scenarios in the episode, leading to humorous spectacles as always. Every character has an important role to play in this episode, a nice way to begin the season and to recap previous complexities.

All in all, I'm very satisfied. In a comical humor again with this series being back on air and have high hopes that this season will accomplish the positive closure it deserves.
