Communist-ridden Bulgaria forces the separation of young brothers: one sent to America with a father's hope of better opportunity, the other left behind to endure the war of an impoverished nation.
Attonas, now an adult and living in the United States, discovers he has an incurable illness and maps out a plan for his remains upon his death. His friend, Tyson reluctantly agrees to Attonas' request that his ashes be returned to his homeland in Eastern Europe and placed in a specific fountain in Bulgaria; a fountain his father took him and his brother to as kids but were forbidden to play in.
The film tells the story of Tyson's dilemma in fulfilling his promise to Attonas while confronting his own broken promises and the bond two men from vastly different backgrounds share during a time of heartbreak.
