Parrish in“Pretty Little Liars”
We haven’t seen the last of Alison Dilaurentis and Mona Vanderwaal just yet. The reformed Rosewood mean girls are leading an expansion of the “Pretty Little Liars” universe. According to Deadline, Freeform has given a pilot order to “Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists,” a spinoff of the network’s flagship series. Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will reprise their respective roles as Alison and Mona.
Based on the book series by “Pll” author Sara Shepard, “The Perfectionists” is set in the seemingly-perfect town of Beacon Heights, home to a top-tier college and overachieving residents. “But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be,” the source hints. “The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town’s first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie, and a needed alibi.”
The project hails from the same team that brought “Pll” to the small screen: writer/executive producer I. Marlene King, Alloy Entertainment, and Warner Horizon Scripted Television. King penned the pilot and serves as executive producer alongside Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo.
“‘Pretty Little Liars’ was a cultural phenomenon so it’s no wonder fans wanted more,” said Karey Burke, Evp, programming and development, Freeform. “We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.”
“I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform, and Warner Horizon,” added King. “I can’t wait to introduce our fans — and Sasha and Janel — to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.”
King co-created Freeform’s “Famous in Love” with Rebecca Serle, the author behind the books that inspired the show. The Bella Thorne-starrer centers on an average college student whose life changes overnight when she’s cast to star in a Hollywood blockbuster. The final episode of the show’s freshman season aired in June. A second season of the soapy drama has been confirmed, but a premiere date hasn’t been announced just yet.

Image Source: FX Networks "Neighbors From Hell," the latest episode of American Horror Story: Cult, begins with a cold opening featuring a couple seeing Ally's therapist, Dr. Vincent. The problem is with Rosie, who has had a debilitating fear of coffins ever since her father repeatedly locked her in a cupboard as a young girl. Her husband, Mark, is there for moral support, and it sounds like Rosie has managed to conquer her fears, aided by attending her father's funeral and literally closing the casket on him. Is a pretty little spinoff in the works?!
There's just three episodes left of Pretty Little Liars, and although we're thrilled to finally have seven seasons worth of A.D. answers, we're sad to say goodbye to our favorite Rosewood residents. Luckily, executive producer (and keeper of all the secrets!) Marlene King dished to Et that a Pll spinoff is "definitely a possibility."
"It's not a for sure thing, but there's some ideas swirling around out there," she exclusively confessed to our cameras over the weekend at the Atx Television Festival in Austin, Texas. "Everybody knows I love this world. I love to play in this world and I love these characters, so it would be fun to keep a few of them moving forward in their lives."
