Jokers & Pinatas!
28 April 2013 | by (the Entertainment Capital of India) – See all my reviews

A bunch of mindless females are so influenced by their idiotic guardian angel (Mohanlal) that they quit their jobs, flirt with him, try to get laid with him, & even leave their families for him.

God! Malayalam cinema has reached its peak in buffoonery, redundancy & self-induced destruction. Siddique boasts off of a star cast which also includes Meera Jasmine by the way, after her Lissamayude Veedu debacle. The screen space shared by her is equal to what Manoj K Vijayan has. THe former is hopeless; latter - I don;t know why he chose to act.

Mohanlal's character is drunkard & intelligent & gentleman & genius & life-saver & psychologically sound & mentor & womanizer & an IDIOT. Day by day (RBR, Red Wine), his roles are diving into superfluity, and utter shamefulness. Even his die hard fans will leave the theater after 15 minutes of over-acting & mind-numbing stances. He should sit at home now. Very bad acting, very bad character & even worse depiction.

Mamata is hot & bold while other two are female dolls. Supporting cast is average. The new face (Sathaar's son) is a let-down; he plays Smart Alec.

Story is terrible where binge alcohol drinking is capitalized, plot is worse than Red Wine which doesn't say anything new (compared to Red Chillies (that OMR surrealism)). Production set is filled with Confident group's ubiquity; why not make an ad instead? Screenplay is okay, while the music is too gaudy just like Casanovva. It tries to be as radiant as its Western/Bollywood counterparts but stumbles upon its own feet. The entertaining factor is excruciatingly low just when you realize that - it is 150 minutes long - certain ideas don't make sense

  • relations are questioned & the institute of marriage is disgraced -

many scenes centered on Mohanlal will create ennui & will bore the hell out of you - songs grove out of nowhere - the movie is sheer melodrama by adults who are guided by filmmakers who are in dire need of money; they thought the complete actor will help them raise revenue, but they forgot about Red Wine & his new alter ego - -> Mohanlal, The Incomplete Actor!

BOTTOM LINE: Kalabhavan Shaajon's jokes were the only thing that impressed me & he is sure to climb up the ladder. Now, for the movie, it is pure disappointment caused out of sheer intention for burglary. Skip this & save that moolah. Read a book!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Language: Mild | Sex, Nudity: No | Violence: Strong | Gore: Mild | Alcohol: Infinity | Smoking, Drugs: No
