Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen to star in Jonathan Levine’s Flarsky

Variety is reporting that Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Seth Rogen (Sausage Party) have been cast in Flarsky, the new comedy from 50/50 and The Night Before director Jonathan Levine.

The film has been penned by Dan Sterling (The Interview) and will see Rogen as “an unemployed journalist, battered by his own misfortune and self-destructive ways, who endeavors to pursue Theron’s character — who was his childhood crush and babysitter and now happens to be one of the most powerful and unattainable women on earth.”

Theron will next be seen as the villain in The Fate and the Furious, and also has action thriller Atomic Blonde incoming this year. Rogen meanwhile will feature in two James Franco-directed films: The Disaster Artist and Zeroville, both of which are currently without release dates. »

Seth Rogen Will Pursue Charlize Theron in ‘Flarsky’; ‘Captain Fantastic’ Director Finds ‘Tomorrow and Tomorrow’

Jonathan Levine (50/50, Warm Bodies) is set to direct a new dark comedy, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, he has snagged two heavy-hitters for the lead roles. Flarsky, a tale about an unemployed journalist (played by Seth Rogen, who seems to be continually trying to expand his dramatic chops outside his comedic efforts) that decides to pursue his childhood crush (Charlize Theron), who now happens to be one of the most powerful women in the world. The script is penned by Dan Sterling (The Interview), and was sitting on the Black List in 2011 until it was scooped by Point Grey and Denver & Delilah. Flarsky is set for an August production start, which means we’ll likely see it in 2018.

Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen are starring in the comedy “Flarsky”with “50/50” director Jonathan Levine helming.

Rogen will play an unemployed journalist, battered by his own misfortune and self-destructive ways, who endeavors to pursue Theron’s character — who was his childhood crush and babysitter and now happens to be one of the most powerful and unattainable women on earth. The script is written by veteran comedy scribe Dan Sterling.

Rogen’s Point Grey Pictures, Theron’s Denver and Delilah Films and Good Universe are the production companies. An August start of production is planned.

Producers are Point Grey principals Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver alongside Denver & Delilah’s Theron, Beth Kono and A.J. Dix. Sterling will also executive produce alongside Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake. Alex McAtee is overseeing for Point Grey and Erin Westerman for Good Universe.

Point Grey Pictures, Denver And Delilah Films and Good Universe announced the project on Thursday.

Jonathan Levine, whose credits include 50/50, The Wackness and the upcoming Snatched starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn, will direct from a screenplay by Dan Sterling.

Production on Flarsky is scheduled to begin in August on the story of an unemployed journalist who decides to pursue his childhood crush, who now happens to be one of the most powerful and unattainable women on earth. 

Point Grey principals Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver will produce alongside Denver & Delilah’s Theron, Beth Kono and A.J. Dix.  

Sterling will also serve as executive producer with Good Universe’s Nathan Kahane and Joe Drake

Alex McAtee is overseeing for Point Grey and Erin Westerman for Good Universe.

Among Sterling’s writing credits are Girls, The Office, The Sarah Silverman Program, King Of The Hill and The Interview.
