I actually saw Sheriff Callie's Wild West when it was new, and it was a neat idea for a preschool show. Taking place in the wild west, the show is about Callie (voiced by Mandy Moore), a calico cat who is sheriff of the town of Nice And Friendly Corners. Joined by her horse, Sparky, Peck, a red woodpecker who serves as deputy, and Toby, a kid who is a living cactus, Callie has many adventures, solving problems her friends may have and teaching lessons.
This was a good cartoon that sadly only lasted two seasons, but in my honest opinion, it should have gone on. Each episode contains two shorts, and each short tells a story that actually teaches a good lesson (one short, Toby Braves The Bully, teaches kids they're not going to be hated by their loved ones if they tell on a bully, and another, Peck Takes It Back, has Peck learn a lesson in name calling after he calls Toby a pinecone, leading the little guy to do something dangerous to find one. This is a show that actually teaches good manners and behavior, the basic social skills kids need to learn to be a good person. The voice acting is perfect and the music fits well. We need more shows like this to teach kids important lessons to counter cartoons that teach kids bad morals while disguising them under comedy.
