Storyline

Following Jack's suicide Hardy is dubbed the worst cop in England by tabloids. As summer turns to autumn Beth bonds with Cate Gillespie, the mother of another murdered child, who hates Hardy for his ineptitude in handling her case. Maggie and Olly discover damning evidence regarding Susan's ex-husband and after she has given Tom Danny's skateboard, saying she was looking after it, she is brought in by the police, Nige stealing her dog. Another Senseless Death
22 August 2016 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

With the death of Jack, Alec begins to tighten the screws even more. He seems determined to attack the local vicar because he resents him for some reason. He is a recovering alcoholic and has been sober for a time. Alec seems to believe that every element of a person's life is his to know. The parents begin to get back to some normalcy, though the daughter is stared at and pitied at school. The funeral for Jack gives the Vicar an opportunity to attack the entire town as complicit. He gets a bit high and mighty, telling Alec he failed to follow his advice and protect the man. Jack is unflappable in most respects but he is very ill. We are also privy to an attempt to phone his daughter who seems estranged from him. We also find out again about the death of a girl that Alec investigated to no avail. Phones and computers seem to be at the center of some activity with Ellie's son. He is caught smashing a computer. Menwhile, Danny's skateboard is given to Tom by the key lady. She is taken into custody. The plumber's assistant is seen with a crossbow, ready to kill her dog.
