With Angie Gower having been killed, they fear for the worse when Adrian Seward goes missing as it seems the killer is now tying up loose ends. As Linden tries to tie things up, Carl Reddick is nowhere to be found, Holder is pulled in by Internal Affairs for questioning and Lt. Skinner's marriage has broken up forcing him to move out of his house. Linden finds the proof she needs to definitively identify the killer when she spots Kallie Leeds' ring.—garykmcd
- Open with Linden and Holder going to Adrian's home. As they knock on the door his foster mother walks up the front walk. They go inside and find his backpack and the backdoor wide open, but no sign of Adrian. This is alarming as he always calls as soon as he gets home.
We see Skinner picking up his daughter from ballet. She asks about Linden and they talk about the separation.
Skinner is called to Adrian's home. Linden tells him that Mills is the wrong guy. The real killer is a cop and they have Adrian. Holder tells him signs point to Reddick. Skinner tells them to keep things between the three of them until they are sure of something.
Adrian knocked on door of a classmate and asked to stay there because he thought someone was following him. The mother drove him home but didn't stay with him.
Two Internal Affairs agents stop Holder.
Linden stops by the station looking for Skinner. She leaves him a voicemail about Holder. One of the officers shows her traffic camera footage of a car that appears to have been following Adrian. Another officer tells Linden that Skinner left in a hurry citing a family emergency.
The IA guys accuse Holder of harassing Reddick and having an infatuation with his daughter. They mention the altercation at Holder's home.
Linden goes to Skinner's home and finds the door unlocked. She finds him upstairs packing and shows him the traffic camera picture. He's dismissive and she thinks it's because he's trying to protect his career. He scolds her for accusing a fellow officer without sufficient evidence. He apologizes and she asks him to call IA. They walk downstairs just as his wife and daughter walk in the front door. Linden sees that Skinner's daughter is wearing Kalle's ring and she is thrown into a shocked daze. She pulls her gun on Skinner who responds with "if you wants to see him alive you'll come with me." She takes his gun and starts to arrest him. Skinner says if she places him under arrest she'll never find Adrian.
The IA guys start going through Holder's history. They tell him Skinner was the one who filed the complaint. He realizes Linden is in danger and demands to be let out of the locked office. He then confesses to planting a bomb in Reddick's car that will go off in a half hour.
When Reddick's family is swarmed by the bomb squad he shows up and demands IA let Holder out. Holder tells Reddick about Adrian and asks for his help.
Linden had Skinner at gunpoint while he drives. She realizes that he had IA look at Holder.
Holder drops by Skinner's home and his wife tells him he left with "his girlfriend." He demands to know the location of Skinner's lake house.
Linden is growing more and more upset as she processes what has happened. Skinner says the first murder was an accident. He hit the girl when she spit at him after making him late for a family function. When he realized she'd tell and bring him down he took her to the woods. He starts talking very matter-of-factly about murdering people.
In Adrian's backpack Reddick found a note where he talked about wanting to be with his mother. He calls Holder and wonders if that was a reference to suicide. Holder doesn't think it makes sense.
Skinner tells Linden he just wanted to talk to Adrian that night his mother was killed. She isn't buying it and continues to ask incredulously how he could have murdered 12-year old girls. He responds by asking how she could have made love to him just a few hours earlier and tells her that she loves him. She starts hitting him and nearly gets them in an accident. She gets out of the car, vomits and begins crying. He tells her that Adrian's close.
Holder races to find Linden but seems to be having trouble with directions.
Skinner and Linden arrive at the lake house. Linden asks if this is where Kalle killed her but Skinner doesn't seem to recall her. He admits there are other girls in the lake and "other places" where no one will ever find them. Skinner laments that his plan to frame Mills had been working so perfectly. They get out of the car.
Holder arrives at a small cabin and kicks down the door. Nobody is there.
Skinner tells Linden that Adrian has been with them the entire time, in his trunk. Linden demands to see the keys.
Reddick finds Adrian very much alive, sitting by his mother's grave.
Skinner tells Linden the one thing he regrets is killing Adrian. When he says "Because I don't do that, I don't kill little children," Linden shoots him in the chest. Holder hears the shot and runs to them. He tells Linden that Adrian is alive and reminds Linden that Skinner wants her to kill him. She starts to lower her gun, but when Skinner says "you love me" she shoots him again and finishes him off. Holder lowers his head and says "No, no, no."
