- With the execution of Ray Seward and Joe Mills about to be charged with the death of the young women, Linden and Holder try to put their lives back together. Linden renews her relationship with an old friend. Holder attends Bullet's funeral and then tries to make things right with his girlfriend Caroline. He also makes amends with his old partner, Carl Reddick. The detectives are called to the scene of a murder after firemen find a body inside a burnt out car. The coroner identifies the victim as a female who died sometime the previous day from a gunshot to the head. Whoever did it took out all of her teeth - and her ring finger is missing though it's a somewhat older injury. They think they have found Angie Gower. Holder thinks the only person who would have known about Joe Mills and who could have planted the rings to frame Mills would be another cop. Linden figures out how Adrian Seward was able to complete his drawings. At the prison, Becker tells Henderson that he's decided to retire.—garykmcd
- Open with Linden jogging. She stops under a tree to collect herself before heading home. Skinner is waiting for her outside. He wanted to make sure she was okay following Seward's death. He tells her he thinks his marriage is over. He comes inside and they eventually start fooling around.
Holder goes to Bullet's funeral. He sits in the back and talks to Danette. She talks about Kalle and gets emotional.
Linden and Skinner slept together and the following morning they both seem pretty happy.
Holder waits for Caroline at her work and apologizes. He says he should have told her about his history. She's willing to make-up.
We see Seward's cell cleaned out. Afterwards Henderson sees Becker's cleaning out his locker. He says he has too many things going on at home and advises Henderson not to stay there too long.
Holder is called to a murder scene and finds Linden already there working the case. It's a badly burned body in a car. He's happy to learn she's decided to stay on as a detective.
Lyric waits on Danette at a fast food restaurant. Danette recognizes her from the funeral and they talk about Bullet. She offers to cut Lyric's hair some time.
Twitch appears to be struggling to maintain his sobriety.
Reddick tells Holder that he's put in for a new partner. His wife called Skinner and wanted to file a formal complaint against Holder, but Reddick didn't do anything because he's "old school."
Linden stops by Skinner's office. He tells her he's going to be adding to his staff and handling the department's highest-profile cases. He's headed to the beach for a few weeks and invites her to come up for the weekend. She passes because of their new case but it's clear their relationship is re-kindling.
Holder asks Linden what's going on with Skinner and playfully teases her about it.
We watch Twitch throw away a bag of drugs.
Linden and Holder are told by the coroner their body is a female, killed execution-style. It's unlikely they'll be able to get prints and the teeth have been removed post-mortem. Holder notices that her ring finger has been removed, and that it was probably removed two weeks ago.
Linden and Holder discuss the possibility this new body is Angie, the last loose end. Given that Mills was in jail, it couldn't have been him. Based on the access to information required, Holder thinks a police officer has been behind the murders. Holder wants to call Skinner.
Holder and Linden go to the office and quietly grab a file. The plan is not to tell anybody anything until they have something solid. The first victim was a girl named Bridget and Holder wonders if perhaps the back seat thing was because she was a suspect.
Bridget's father tells them his daughter solicited an undercover police officer. On the wall Holder spots a picture of Bridget with Reddick. He had been a neighbor and helped get Bridget into a junior officer program.
Holder points out Reddick never mentioned knowing a victim. He also was the one to take the call from Bullet the night she died. Linden spots a tree house and says "The killer was never after Tricia." Seward built Adrian a tree house, but the nearest trees to Seward's home was nearby the place the killer dumped the bodies.
Linden and Holder go to where the bodies were found. They find a tree house and see that it provides a perfect view of the killer dumping bodies into the pond. The killer came to the apartment that night to kill Adrian, not his mother.
Cut to Adrian leaving school. He's being followed by what looks like an unmarked police vehicle.
