Good Start - How does it progress.
13 October 2013 | by See all my reviews

I saw this when I was in Melbourne, have always been a sucker for a film festival. The played all 5 episodes as one so total 15 minutes. There representing the the series said this was a prequel to the real series and was made as a test to see if it would work... Well I thought it did.

The whole concept of Mission Backup Earth is, what happens when the Sun becomes unstable and a Red Giant and how does Humankind escape the solar System and re colonise a new world. The prequel centres around a married couple who are scientists based on Neptune's moon Triton. I'll give little more away - have a look.

Points and gripes. I think the script was a little wanting and could have done with some action. The Visual Effects for a no budget were excellent and would only say the looked a little clean against the live footage. The cast was okay overall and think that there is work to be done with some of the characters, most are fine. The acting overall needs to improve and wonder whether this is due to limited time for shooting or just one of the problems of shooting green screen.

Where it goes from here will depend on finding a budget. This has won two awards at the Melbourne WebFestival...
