Tom Ellis To Topline USA Medical Drama Pilot ‘Rush’, Rick Gonzalez To Co-Star

26 November 2013 10:00 AM, PST | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

British actor Tom Ellis (Miranda, Gates) is set as the lead of USA Network’s drama pilot Rush. Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter) also has been cast in the project, from Fox 21. Rush, written/directed by Jonathan Levine, is in the vein of USA’s Royal Pains as it too is about an on-call doctor. It centers on Dr. William Rush (Ellis) who is not your average on-call doctor — he’s not attached to any hospital, he’s highly discreet no matter what the ailment as long as the client can pay his cash-only premium and the doctor can party with the best of them. Gonzalez will play Manny Maquis, a well-connected dealer, who considers Rush a friend, as well as a client. Ellis, repped by Anonymous Content and UK’s Hamilton-Hodell, starred in the ABC pilot Gothica last season. Gonzalez is with Domain, Framework Entertainment and attorney Lev Ginsburg. »

Tom Ellis on 'Miranda' future: 'There's more story to be told'

19 September 2013 4:25 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

Tom Ellis has hinted that Miranda will return to television.

The hit BBC sitcom's third series was rumoured to be its last, though star Miranda Hart has hinted that a fourth run could be in the works.

"I don't think it's the end of the journey, put it that way," Ellis - who plays Miranda's love interest Gary - said on ITV's Lorraine.

"I think there's certainly some more of the story to be told. I can't say when [another series is] going to happen, but I think it's not going to go away."

Ellis has recently been working in the Us, with roles in Once Upon a Time and the ABC fantasy pilot Gothica.

The 34-year-old actor recently split from his wife of seven years, actress Tamzin Outhwaite.

The third series of Miranda aired on BBC One between December 2012 and January 2013.

Syfy Announces Casting – Charles Widmore! – and More Plot Details for Legion-Based Pilot Dominion

6 September 2013 1:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

We first told you back in July about Syfy giving the green light to the pilot Dominion, based on characters in the 2010 film Legion. Back then we had little to go on besides a sketchy paragraph about it being set 25 years in the future after an epic war between an army of angels and humankind.

Now we have more, including not only the casting of three major characters (at least two of whom are likely familiar to you) but a lot more in the way of plot and character detail.

Although I’m completely enthusiastic and encouraging about this pilot, the fact that one of the actors, Christopher Egan, was also cast in the pilot Gothica as Dorian Gray proves that casting a pilot by no means guarantees its pickup to series.

You have been warned; get excited about this, but don’t fall in love just yet:

'Home and Away' star gets lead in TV sequel to Paul Bettany's 'Legion'

6 September 2013 2:41 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Chris Egan is to play the lead role in Syfy's new pilot Dominion.

The supernatural action drama is based on 2010 Paul Bettany movie Legion.

Former Home and Away star Egan will play Alex Lannen, a maverick soldier who learns that he is the saviour of humanity, Deadline reports.

The 29-year-old is best known for playing Nick Smith on Australian soap Home and Away between 2000 and 2003. More recently, Egan has appeared in three TV pilots for ABC - last year's Gothica, 2012's Beauty and the Beast opposite musician and actor Darius Campbell and 2011's Poe.

Alan Dale (Lost, The Oc) will also feature in the Dominion pilot, set 25 years after the events of Legion.

Dominion will explore the aftermath of a war between angels and mankind, with Dale's character Rysen - a general in the war - now ruling over one of four surviving human cities.

'Hunted' Season 2 could morph into spinoff miniseries 'Sam Hunter' on Cinemax

21 June 2013 5:23 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Canceled action drama "Hunted" starring Melissa George may be on its way back to TV.

The show's eight-episode first season aired last fall and was produced in partnership between UK's BBC One and Us cable network Cinemax. The BBC opted not to continue its involvement back in November of last year and the show was essentially canceled.

But Cinemax has apparently been exploring alternative ways to keep the show alive, and now Deadline is reporting "Hunted" creator Frank Spotnitz is developing the spinoff miniseries "Sam Hunter" for the network.

The four-hour event will follow the continuing adventures of George's character, private espionage agent Sam, who is on the run from her former employer while trying to protect her young daughter.

After the "Hunted" cancellation, George moved on to a starring role in ABC's horror soap pilot "Gothica," but the show was not picked up to series, freeing her up once again for "Hunted. »

Colton Haynes (Roy Harper) Promoted To Series Regular For Arrow Season 2

14 March 2013 4:35 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

At PaleyFest 2013, Arrow showrunners were a little hesitant to say exactly how much of Roy Harper the series would feature moving forward into the show's second season. "It's pilot season", one producer stated. The meaning here is that actress Jessica De Gouw who portrays Huntress landed the female lead role in NBC's Dracula pilot and Seth Gabel who portrays "Count" Vertigo secured a costarring role on ABC's Gothica. Now that doesn't necessarily mean that the actors won't be returning to Arrow but if their pilots get picked up, it would most likely mean that at the very best, the duo would return for only an episode or two. Not so for Colton Haynes. While it appeared there was a chance Haynes could have similar pilot season success, The CW has secured Haynes for Season Two. It was also revealed at PaleyFest that Roy Harper will be coming »

Another Guest Star Bumped Up to Season 2 Regular on Arrow

13 March 2013 3:00 PM, PDT | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Tonight’s episode of Arrow is a rebroadcast of “Vertigo”, the episode with our beloved Seth Gabel playing the bad guy in an exceptionally crazy and watchable way. No, sorry kids, he is not the guest star who’ll be a season regular next year – hopefully his pilot Gothica will be picked up to series and we’ll be seeing him there on a weekly basis.

We’ve only seen this guest star in one episode so far this season, but he left an impression – especially on Oliver’s sister Thea, whose bag he stole. Yes, Colton Haynes, formerly our favorite bad boy and sometimes kanima Jackson on Teen Wolf, now juvenile delinquent Roy Harper on The CW show, will be promoted to series regular on Arrow next season, according to Zap2It.

It’s not clear if Roy will stay a bad boy or be converted, and as fans »

Former Fringer Seth Gabel and More Cast in Horror Soap Pilot Gothica

6 March 2013 1:00 PM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

Seth Gabel! I would have started this article with a long Woo Hoo if it wasn’t somewhat unprofessional. But please allow me to take a step back. Gothica (which by the way has absolutely nothing to do with the Halle Berry movie of the same name) is a pilot in development at ABC, described as a modern-day gothic horror soap surrounding the lives of Dracula, Jekyll and Hyde, Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and more. Excellent, right?

This is not to be confused with the Showtime straight-to-series (no pilot required) Penny Dreadful, which features the same characters but in a Victorian London setting, that we told you about back in January. Nor is it to be confused with the modern-day I, Frankenstein movie which in turn is not to be confused with the Frankenstein movie that might have Daniel Radcliffe in it, as we reported earlier today. Don’t worry, we »
