Storyline

Robin Williams returns to series television in The Crazy Ones, a single-camera workplace comedy about a larger-than-life advertising genius whose unorthodox methods and unpredictable behavior would get him fired... if he weren't the boss. Simon Roberts is the head of a powerful agency, with the biggest clients and brands in the world, but even more important to him is that his daughter Sydney is by his side. As his partner, Sydney is Simon's exact opposite - focused, organized and eager to make a name for herself, but also too busy parenting her father, which she'd resent if he wasn't so brilliant at what he does. Joining them in the firm are the dashing and talented Zach; art director Andrew, who's as hard-working as he is neurotic; and the beautiful and deceptively smart assistant Lauren. With his team and his daughter behind him, Simon continues to set the advertising world on fire, and it looks like they are definitely buying what these crazy ones are selling. Written by Jiilo_Kim

Good, solid show, but needs a mother
8 November 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I have seen all seven episodes of "The Crazy Ones", and it is one of the funniest shows I have seen in quite a while. Robin Williams is simply fantastic as Simon, and the rest of the cast is awesome as well. At first, Sarah Michelle Gellar seemed a little out of place for me, but she has adjusted quite well. James Wolk is brilliant and destined to be the next breakout star. He and Hamish play off each other very well. I'm glad CBS ordered the full season, and it will be interesting to see how the show evolves in the coming weeks.

I do have one issue with the show, and that is a mother for Sydney. Numerous times, the show has mentioned a mother figure or one of Simon's ex-wives. It would be a great move on the part of CBS to hire Pam Dawber to play either one of those roles. Pam has worked with Robin before on Mork and Mindy, and it would be great if they can be reunited on The Crazy Ones. Both Sarah and Robin have lobbied for Pam to be on the show, and if Pam wishes to get back into TV, this would be a great time to do it.

As for the show, I love it, but hiring Pam would make a good show even better.
