It's the Hard-Knock Life is a feature length documentary that provides an insider's look at the Tony-nominated revival of the musical Annie. Going in, I wasn't expecting too much. While I'm a big fan of Broadway, I'd never been a fan of the musical Annie and I'm not exactly sure why. That changed after seeing this film, which truly gives a unique, behind-the-scenes look at creating a Broadway show. Not only is it beautifully shot on a grand scale, but it contains many intimate moments that are moving and heartfelt along the way. It makes one appreciate the overwhelming amount of hard work that goes into creating a Broadway show. Here's how I know this film really worked: It made me want to see the full "Annie" production on Broadway, and those words would never have come out of my mouth before seeing this film.
