Cohle and Hart continue interviewing family and friends of the victim they found in the farmer's field. They learn that she had moved to a trailer park and found religion. They find the church she attended, now mostly burned out, but they also find something that links the church directly to their current case. Back at the office, they are faced with the prospect of being replaced by a task force. Cohle tells his partner he had a difficult time after his 2 year-old daughter was killed in a car accident. In the present day interviews, it becomes obvious to both Cohle and Hart that the detectives have found something new and are looking to blame someone for something. Written by garykmcd

Did You Know?

When the detectives stop their car outside the abandoned church, there is a shot of Rust looking at the horizon when suddenly a group of black birds take flight from the bushes. As the old Rust voices over the scene, the group of birds start making random patterns in the sky, one of which is the spiral sign as seen tattooed on the murdered victims' backs. See more »

Rustin Cohle: Yeah, back then, the visions, yeah most of the time I was convinced... Shit... I'd lost it. But there were other times... I thought I was mainlining the secret truth of the universe.

Prostitutes and secrets
27 October 2015 | by (Italy) – See all my reviews

Episode 2 is just a followup of the first one. The narrative strategy is the same: nowadays Rust and Marty talking to nowadays investigators, with a complex and massive flashback sequence unveiling little by little every step forward in the inquiry. And the story is the perfect occasion to show off Fukunaga's taste for the Sublime, for rotten things in the Louisiana countryside. Alongside our heroes, we get to know prostitutes of all kinds in this episode, mainly in line with the investigation, but also for less honorable goals (see Rust's addiction). Can't say I didn't enjoy the sexy scene between Marty and his smoking hot friend (a very well set Daddario), which enhances the adulthood of the whole project. If I should have to pick a word for it all, it would be "dirty".
