No news is good nudes

As a consumer, I am not privy to Girlfriends Films' high-level meetings on designating or approving new video series, so NEWSWOMEN remains an enigma to me. First installment scores high marks in the sensuality and arousal departments, but offers very little information in what a TV show would call its Bible.

Basically, we are introduced to two principal media characters, both buxom blondes: Angela Sommers as the new TV newscaster in town, and Julia Ann as her fairly mysterious boss. Sommers is impressive in her sack time, and Julia Ann is always a pleasure to admire, here set up as perhaps a Joan Collins back- stabber type.

Making the strongest impression is an exciting new beauty Aryana Augustine, who returns in several later NEWSWOMEN episodes. She suggests Michelle Rodriguez with huge breasts and has a terrific scene as the aggressor opposite Samantha Ryan. Almost comically (an inference on my part), Ryan suddenly gets mad in the middle of the feature and walks out on client (Ryan is a talent agent) and love-partner Sommers, in a scene signifying her departure from this series.

In one of the oddest job interviews ever shot, French beauty Elisa literally flusters boss Julia Ann with her nutty improvisations, but all's well when they end up in the sack.

Other key player is rock-solid India Summer as Sommers' neighbor, who seems to be up to no good. Cssting is a bit confusing, because yet another similarly named actress Angell Summers pops up in the loosely structured script as a beauty who Julia Ann's known for only 3 weeks, but whom she foists upon Sommers for a finale sex scene that makes no sense story-wise. Especiallly since Julia Ann's character is a mass of contradictions concerning her real stance on whether lesbianism is "okay".

At the end of the lengthy show, very little to set up the series has been accomplished, and at no time is there any news gathering, studio, office or anything related to the profession presented. With as little lip service as paid here to the central premise, Girlfriends could just as well have released this video under the generic title "Women".
