Storyline

Saudi student Hasim Farouk, at Columbia like Alexis, is killed by a van crashing into him while he fired at it. The team soon works out the van was used to kidnap not only Egyptian tycoon Anwar El-Masri's daughter Sara, but also Alexis, whom she met at a lecture. FBI agent Harris's sole trace, obtained only because Becket 'turned away' from Castle slightly torturing the wounded van driver, runs dead. Trivia

While investigating a child abduction in "Castle: Little Girl Lost (2009)", Castle tells Beckett that he can't imagine such a thing happening to Alexis. In this episode and the following episode, he actually has to live through that parental nightmare. See more »

Goofs

When Castle realizes Alexis was also attending the lecture with Sara Al-masri (the missing girl) and calls her phone, you can see the phone is in Airplane mode but still ringing. See more »

Quotes

Richard Castle: You know, I still remember when Alexis was born, they handed me this... tiny person, all bundled up. She just... stared up at me. And when I looked down at her, this feeling hit me, like I'd been struck by lightning. It was love. That instant, inexplicable love you can only feel for your child. In that moment, I knew... I knew my life had changed forever. And now it's about to change again.

The torture part of the episode shows a whole different, dark side to Castle. We've only seen him as a clown/dandy, as a typical over-protective father, but now we see that when he says he will do anything to protect the ones he loves, especially Alexis, he puts his money where his mouth is. This shows something that is rarely seen in television. Normally, it's leaving everything to the cops or just killing the bad guys, rarely do you see a man resort to such tactics. This is the last thing anyone would expect from a man like Castle.

What's better, in one episode he mentions that if he were a comic book hero, it would be Bruce Wayne/Batman. Here, he shows he could be Batman...a hero willing to do anything (short of murder) to fight crime (or in Castle's case, protect the ones he loves).

An excellent episode all around.
