Wonderful nostalgic look at mid-century modern homes.

This 45 minute gem brought back many fond memories of visiting Palm Springs in the 1950s. The film artfully moves among the wonderfully simple yet unique structures that are defined as mid-century modern. The very personal remarks of those living in and restoring these homes makes the documentary feel very intimate and reflects just how important these structures are in defining the innovative design of that wonderful era. This film is beautifully crafted by very talented people with a real feeling for what they have recorded. One might think that such a documentary would be rather dry and slow moving, but just the opposite is true. I found myself wanting more, not less.

A celebration of modernism not to be missed!

As a documentary film maker myself, I can say that this new film moves like a house-afire! There is never a dull moment and it never lags or becomes boring. It takes us for a trip through the subject of Mid-century modern architecture, and shows how it has impacted not only Palm Springs, California, but much of the southland, as well. The film makers have rounded up the leading experts on this subject, and with humor and terrific colorful footage, they show us a glimpse of that time when the "Sputnik" helped define "Space-age Modern". Experts like Jim Harlan and Robert Imber provide context for understanding the excitement of the homeowners featured and why living in these cool houses is so unique.

Brilliant!

A totally brilliant and historical viewpoint of the Alexander Company and their infiltration into the Palm Springs housing market. So many in-depth interviews with people who worked for the company, knew the family and historians who are documenting the project. What started as an idea turned itself into an architectural movement which now populates the landscape of Palm Springs. I learned so many new and informative facts about the Alexander Company and their products. But, the BEST parts of the movie were the "House Tours" and seeing some really, really cool house and furnishings. Long live the mid-century homes!!! Please take the quick 45 minute tour of the homes that define Palm Springs!!
