Fun filled ride with an unexpected message
appusnikhil15 September 2023
I laughed a lot after a long time. It was a fun-filled ride with lots of comedies. Happy to see Naslen getting some cracking roles. The supporting actors were also very good.

The movie is set in a different timeline, not in the present day, and the production design was a bit artificial. I also didn't expect a message in the climax and that was a surprise (well, we are used to movies like "Madhura Manohara Moham"). Like everyone else, I thought the director would take a straightforward approach, but there comes the message.

This film is sure to appeal to a younger audience, with its humour primarily targeting them rather than a broader family demographic.

Waste of time!

Warning: Spoilers
The story takes place in 2009 as they say yet some scenes do not add up, however the year atomically justifies this blunder ,the cast n crew have put out here on screen. It is the same cliche love story which we have seen since forever, the girl n boy ,sneak out of their home n get married against the opposing family. The script is just templated boring stuff and the cast makes it even more terrible. Naslen seems to have put in a subpar performance comparing his previous films. Meenakshi Dinesh also seems so boring n tired throughout the film. Shyam Mohan, why do you even exist man!

Mathew Thomas, Binu Pappu and Rajesh Madhavan have tried to pay respect to the roles they got . However Naslen has two friends who accompany him on the sneak out, and is by far one of the best mediocre performers who I have seen this year. Like why would you cast some amature kids like them, the director owes them money or something??

Apart from all this terror, the script is just bland n boring , dialogues are cringe and the background scores are super cliche on every shot. I would not recommend this film to anybody! What a waste of time, you would be better off watching Dora Buji!

Surprise Package

18+ surprised me with its humour, plot, and overall treatment. There is never a dull moment here which narrates the story of an elopement attempt by a college dropout and his college girlfriend, both with a class difference. The social milieu it is set in adds to the fun, also thanks to the relatable characters who never feel like a sore thumb. One has to realise that making comedy and enacting it are tough jobs, yet 18+ pulls them off seamlessly, never tiring its audience. And the final 30 minutes are just cherry on the top without ever taking the cringe mode. I enjoyed watching this wholeheartedly and I will watch out for whatever Arun Jose does next.

Mathew Thomas time
warrier_ash18 September 2023
18 plus: directed by Arun Jose. Lemme say Mathew Thomas stole the show. In Acting. In dance. Naslen actually took a backseat this time though the movie is centered around him. And this is a first, not something I've felt in the prior movies they were together. Story is a simple love story with elopement. The message at the end of higher and lower caste is good. Most higher caste people do preach and not practice, when it comes to their own family. Loved the friendship sacrifice moment of Mathew Thomas, and the intensity in his face as a party worker. Overall I would say one time watch, boring mostly except for some moments of good acting by Mathew..
