Storyline

The Justice Department continues to pursue Eli Gold even though their wiretap evidence has been thrown out. Josh Perotti tells Eli's lawyer, Elsbeth Tascioni, that he will now be pursuing a conspiracy case against her client and has a witness who will testify against him. It turns out that witness is the head of the local Democratic party and his testimony relates to Eli arranging to pack a straw poll with seniors from an old folks home. As both lawyers spar back and forth deftly countering each others thrusts, the case begins to affect Peter's run for governor - and results in Peter's mother Jackie being called as a prosecution witness. Meanwhile, the firm tries to get a contract with the State's Attorney's office to deal with any civil suits brought against them. Written by garykmcd

The Good Wife Going for the Gold
4 March 2013 | by (Ireland) – See all my reviews

The show is firing on all cylinders lately and this episode is another example of how great the show is doing in everything really. From the guest stars like Carrie Preston and Kyle MacLaine playing off each other they are doing such a great job overall. The writing of the episode is strong and even bringing back in Jackie did not make me cringe like last times because she was barely featured and she was not a confused old women or a tough mother in law fighting with Alicia. The political part of the episode was the weakest even though I did like the debate scene seeing Peter and Maddei go up against each other with the help of Eli. Little scenes between Laura and Will made no sense to me as these characters have never seemed like a couple to be and it seems he is going after her because Alicia turned him down. The show is doing such a great job even when some of their guest starts are wasted such as Lily Rabe and S. Epathan Merkensen who barely were featured almost forgettable if I was not familiar with them.

EPISODE GRADE: B+ (MVP: Carrie Preston)
