Hidden Pictures is a simple documentary with a clear goal: bringing awareness to global mental health. Mental health as it is tends to be on the low rung when talking about health in the U.S., and how it is perceived and treated internationally is even less known. Traveling throughout the world, the filmmaker interviews people with mental illnesses as well as their families and caregivers. It was wonderful to compare and contrast how mental health is addressed in other countries in relation to here in the U.S., and it's pretty clear that there's work to be done. I would recommend this film to anyone interested in learning more about mental health, especially for anyone hoping to get more discussions started about this topic in their community. As it is only about an hour long, it is also a good film to show in a classroom setting and is appropriate for all ages.
