Although on the surface they are both happy about their engagement, Robin and Barney contemplate sabotaging that happiness for different reasons. Wearing an engagement ring, Robin eventually comes to the realization that the ring is making her invisible to men, and as such they don't lavish her with gifts as they used to do. She has to decide whether the ring or the free gifts and attention are more important. And although Barney says he is disgusted by Ted dating twenty year old Carly with who he only has a mutual physical attraction in common (she who is into "old" guys), Barney needs Ted to sleep with her if only to live through Ted vicariously. Ted, however, is thinking of breaking up with Carly without ever having slept with her unless he can find something, anything, as a common emotional ground between the two of them. Barney's need for Ted to do this act may be affected by beautiful Carly herself. And Marshall is sporting a new look as it is turning Lily's crank, but that look... Written by Huggo

Barney Stinson: [Barney is angry that Ted slept with his half-sister] That's my sister, Ted!
Ted Mosby: I didn't know! None of us even knew you had a sister until two years ago, including you. It's all a crazy coincidence.
Barney Stinson: There are four million women in the city of New York and you had to sleep with my sister. Why would the universe do that to me?
Ted Mosby: [Sarcastic] I don't know. It's not like you've treated women in such a way that wouldn't invite karmic retribution.
Barney Stinson: You banged my sister, my sweet, little, innocent...
Ted Mosby: Pierced.

Ring Up! (#8.14)
6 August 2015 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

The story about the 20 year old was great. That fetish about old Ted was already alone hilarious. She thought he was in his 60's? So glad Barney didn't meet her before he ended his one night stands or he would sleep with his sister by mistake. That little detox from one night stand he had was a great idea, and the scene when he sees that it was his sister. Oh boy, that was cool. Ted was right, some ironic karma there. I also loved the wink.

Robin's story was especially nice where there was a song. They usually make those musical pieces pretty amusing on this show.

Marshall and Lily really went into the background with that kid...Too bad I think I liked them the most.
