The protagonist of this series, Kiri Haimura, is one of a number of 'authors'; these aren't writers but owners of cursed 'killing goods' tools that have been used to kill in the past and cause those who inherit them to kill as well. His killing goods is a pair of scissors that his ancestor Norman Greyland used to kill around two hundred people. When he meets series heroine Iwai Mushanokoji he is attracted to her perfect long hair and wants to cut it. Up until now nobody has been able to cut it; she is the 'Queen of Hair' and the other authors want to kill her as that will enable the killer to have any wish granted. Kiri becomes her protector which leads to him having many fights with other authors each of whom uses different weapons.
This anime series was enjoyable; I rather liked the premise of having people drawn to kill by inherited killing goods. The characters were good and I found myself caring about Kiri and Iwai. As well as good protagonists there is a decent cast of secondary characters; some who only appear in a few episodes others who are more important. Given the subject matter it isn't surprising that there are a few somewhat grisly scenes although they aren't too gruesome. There is a small amount of nudity although in the version I watched this was hidden by 'censor steam' which will no doubt be removed in the DVD release. The concluding episode leads things open for another season; in fact I'll be a little bit disappointed if there isn't another season as there is no real conclusion a few short scenes during the final credits hint at more to come; no doubt that will be dependent on how popular this season was in Japan.
These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
