Fun with goofball gangsters
lotekguy-13 January 2022
This starts like a spoof of Goodfellas, but ends up a poor-man's descendant of Smokin' Aces. If you've not seen the latter, this one will seem more fresh and edgy than it will for those who have. Silly, cartoonish violence with bits of T & A to bolster the broad comedy.

Worth watching crime film

I had a great time watching Circle (2019). It's an indie crime film that doesn't try to be completely original, in fact, Bekir Kulozu - director and writer - took references from many great and classic films from the genre and created an entertaining movie. It has the fast pace from films like Guy Ritchie's ones plus a focus on Italian mob groups, a combination that totally worked. Moreover, the screenplay is clever, with an interesting main plot, about a treason in the mob, and many subplots as this is an intersecting stories narrative. There is a lot going on, many characters, but the film never feels confusing and all the important characters are fleshed out and have interesting lines. The screenplay is smart and the editing too, so Circle (2019) has a great pace. Moreover, I really liked that there are many kinds of gangsters groups in this film, this is something that feels fresh to me. Furthermore, the film navigates well through genres, with interesting dramatic moments and an enjoyable comedy and action. About acting, I highlight Richard Cerqueira (Marco), I loved his accent and how he embodied the classic Italian mob man, Michael Kaplan (Marcello), who is very natural and clearly is an experienced actor, Mike Adler (Frank), whose voice is surreal and did a great job at being menacing and Katrina Lenk, who steals the scenes in which she is in and has an incredible performance in a scene that involves dancing and singing. In addition to this, the technical aspects are all well crafted. There are interesting shots, a nice cinematography, well thought out costumes, sets and I wanna call attention to the soundtrack, which is great. To end this, Circle (2019) is a worth watching indie crime film and I'm grateful @circlethemovie invited me to review it.

Hugely entertaining!

With gangsters, guns and plenty of violence, Bekir Kulozu has created a violent homage to the mafia genre with his incredibly entertaining Circle (2019). The plot is simple; a group of mafia bosses come together to play poker in a secret location while some of their subordinates plan to rob the game dry. Predictably, the narrative soon descends into an orgy of carnage and death as trigger happy gangsters blow each other apart with wanton abandon.

Kulozu keeps the story grounded, filling up his film with quirky characters who you know are going to bite the dust sooner or later. There is the head honcho Brando, played to perfection by Dominick Mancino while Ratnesh Dubey plays a random pizza delivery man who turns out to have a recurring but hysterical role throughout the whole story. Talented genius, Katrina Lenk, a 2018 Tony Award Best Actress winner, also illustrates her incredible talent in the film. Playing the disgruntled girlfriend of a mafia boss, Lenk brings depth and emotion to the role, easily becoming the most memorable part of the film. Lenk is a talented singer as well and several of her original songs are showcased in the film as well.

Kulozu does well to take his audience into the seedy New York underworld where one wrong move can get your head blown off. The violence is sudden but intense, the wit is sharp and there is an unending sense of dread about who eventually will turn up victorious and end up with the dirty money that everyone seems to have their eye on.

With fantastic performances, a good script that perfectly balances levity with violence and an assured director who knows where to take the story, Circle is as inspired by Martin Scorsese's and Guy Ritchie's works as it is by Quentin Tarantino's wit and violence. Kulozu has made a pretty neat picture, one that will resonate as well with the fans of the genre as with the casual moviegoers.

"Circle" Not just a perfect movie, but beautifully creative and amusing

Personally, I enjoyed this movie from the beginning to the end even though it's short but it passes a lot of message to the audience.

To start with the movie clip, I learnt a great lesson there that when doing businesses with people, you don't have to trust them 100% and you have to be very smart and vigilant because failure to do so might put your life in danger.

I am well please with the title given to the movie "Circle" with the tag "who is playing who?" At the same time, the characters were for the most part generic and categorical great and quite complex, and are further advantaged by being wonderfully portrayed. The story is rich and compelling and the dialogue is thought provoking and beautifully written. Bekir Kulozu also proved what a fine director he was by directing so wonderfully on this film.

The last quote by Clifford Odets fully share light to the movie that says "Life should not be printed on Dollar bills" If many should understand the concept, they would have learn more about humanity because what goes around will always comes around What a fantastic movie that is well acted.
