Do Not Bother with "Do Not Disturb"

8 September 2013 5:50 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Stephen Geoffreys, equally famous for playing Evil Ed in the original Fright Night and later appearing in a slew of gay porn flicks, stars in Do Not Disturb cheaply-produced and, at times, brutal horror flick about a Hollywood screenwriter holed up in a cheap hotel while working on a horror/revenge flick. Somewhat down on his luck, Don (Geoffreys) is on-edge, drinking heavily and alienating friends and professional acquaintances.

Obsessed with building the perfect "killer" script, Don ventures deep down the rabbit hole, taking his writing entirely too literally, turning his talent for the written word into a talent for brutality and murder. Somewhat meta in its approach, Do Not Disturb is a fairly interesting character study, mostly buoyed by Geoffreys' solid performance. Though he's far from the hysterical, creepy and intense little kid in Fright Night, he's still a solid performer.

Review: Do Not Disturb

14 August 2013 8:04 AM, PDT | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Don is a once successful screenwriter reeling from the murder of his fiancé. He finds new purpose when he turns to torture and murder. The combination proves to be highly enjoyable for Don and fuels his cravings for revenge against his fiancé’s death.

Do Not Disturb was in the can for a couple of years prior to making its way to DVD and it’s easy to see why it didn’t find distribution right away. The film was written and directed by B.C. Furtney. Unfortunately for the viewing audience, Furtney’s film does not succeed on any level. Everything from the script to the performances falls completely flat.

The film has no redeeming entertainment value; it isn’t enjoyable, it isn’t enlightening, it’s just mind-numbingly dull. Watching it made me feel like an unwilling participant in someone else’s extremely depressing crack-induced nightmare.
