Phenomenal episode! Please do a spin-off!
takekawaglx14 March 2023
This episode was incredible! The actress that played the "Good Lawyer" was amazing! It was my favourite episode of this season and it definitely is a really good start of a possible spin-off. I really wish we get it because it will surely be very very interesting! I know that's the plan if the reviews etc are going to be good and so far, I've only seen good reviews.

Some thoughts about the plot: I was a bit sceptical about whether or not the plot would flow nicely and to my surprise, it flowed like water! Of course a part of that was the overall writing and directing but the new actors (especially the 2 lawyers) were just too good!

That's all I got to say. Definitely recommend!

This episode touched my heart.

The Good Doctor, as a television program, brings a lens to one of the many disabilities that make our society more interesting and humane.

Tonight's episode, The Good Lawyer, carries that gift forward by sharing the power of community. The acting was remarkable, as was the writing and direction. I hope to see more of this collaboration in the future. These shows help us to better understand who we are.

They also remind us that similarities often bring comfort. And differences, sometimes uncomfortable, bring depth to this world and together make us better as individuals and inhabitants sharing this earth.

Great Pilot Episode for The Good Lawyer
centaur113525 March 2023
At the time of viewing, I was unaware that this was a pilot episode, until afterwards I researched more. At the time of viewing I thought if this is not a pilot for a new series, then it should be.

Everything about it was awesome. The story was extremely well told. Joni's disability was delicately portrayed, and modern day often unwitting discrimination was portrayed with skill, both by the script writers and the actors.

I like the way that Joni's first appearance was almost dismissed as a chance encounter. The dialogue between Shaun and Jodi is intellectually thought provoking.

Janet too is an interesting character, though if I were to adversely criticise, character development may have been a little too quick.

As someone who is hooked on legal dramas, probably more-so than medical dramas. I hope this will be the beginning of multiple seasons. I can't wait for the season to start.

Eager for the new series
KEBuckley-X14 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I rarely consume entertainment news, so I may have missed something already announced, but a few scenes into this episode, it felt like a pilot for a new series. I'm writing with that assumption. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong

As an episode of The Good Doctor, it was just an average episode. Some good moments with Shaun connecting with Joni and building trust with her, but beyond that, there wasn't much Good Doctor present.

However, the episode did hold my attention the entire time. I don't recall seeing anything with Kennedy McMann before, but she immediately had a recognizable appeal to her in Joni's personality. Her character was immediately likable for me. Kennedy did a great job of portraying a deeply flawed but caring and passionate lawyer. And just in the first scene with Joni, I was hoping she would become a recurring character. A few scenes later, and I thought "this is a pilot for a spin-off."

The closing argument given by Joni was a bit drippy with cheese (how many times have audiences heard the "we're all different but don't judge each other for it" speech), and there were moments of predictability (Felicity Huffman was obviously going to be Joni's Glassman), but Kennedy McMann shined and made Joni likable and relatable for me. And I'm looking forward to watching her new series on ABC. I'm hoping for a fall 2023 debut.

So, let's get back to the good doctor next episode.

GREAT BACKDOOR PILOT!

Warning: Spoilers
I LOVED THIS EPISODE! Joni DeGroot and Janet Stewart are incredibly likeable characters with incredible performances from Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman. I'm really excited to see how The Good Lawyer series ends up being. Not only are these characters awesome, but the actual case and lawsuit was actually interesting and entertaining. It was a nice break from the mediocrity this show has been for the last two seasons. Glassman and Shaun are great as they have been for the entire series. One character I don't really like is Abbie, she's not very likeable in my opinion. Yes, this was great..

Excellent episode

Kennedy McMann is amazing!

Dear Lord!

I wish when her series starts, they try to bring Shawn sometimes maybe to chat or just her asking for a medical consultation.. but man, make him come to her show!

The dynamic between Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman... I loved it. She is going to be her Dr Glassman too. I know it and you know it.

Janet telling Jodi when she started, she was the first female associate and then telling Jodi she was going to be first chair.. that is empowerment.. not playing the victim.

Janet was THE lawyer that helped Jodi when she was a kid.. guess maybe it was a custody thing probably.. yeah, definitely she is her dr Glassman.. but she did treat her very badly at the begining.. which was very odd.. and throught the show she did a 180.. it seemed off... I would only change their relationship to maybe janet already being warm to her but afraid of her not being able to handle pressure, talking to people etc.. like glassman was when shawn was starting his career.,..

but anyway, as for the rest.. WOW 10/10 hope to watch The Good Lawyer soon!

This is empowerment.. Outside the court when.

S6.E16 - Pretty Good [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S6. E16) My Live Reaction / Review for The Good Doctor Season 6 Episode 16 ''The Good Lawyer''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. So now Shaun will need some other doctor to approve anything he does? That doesn't sound like a good deal, Shaun is right. The question is who sued Shaun? Shaun changed his mind and he is getting ready for trial? That gets more interesting. Shaun chose a lawyer with no experience and severe OCD, doesn't sound good. The lawyer is better than I expected. Im glad Shaun and his lawyer won, otherwise it would be very bad for Shaun. Overall this episode was good and I enjoyed it. My rating is 9/10.

Terrible pilot
agentmaxsmart14 March 2023
The pilot for The Good Lawyer. Every show has to have a gimmick & this show's is the lawyer has OCD. As a court-room drama, it fails on every level. It was not compelling nor suspenseful in any way.

The main character's OCD is played off in an annoying way. As dialogue continues, it is muffled & we get to stare at her face as she stares like a deer in the headlights. Something has to happen 3 times for her to move again, otherwise she's as stiff as a statue.

No one thinks anything is wrong as she stands there, staring at a chair. If her fellow lawyer didn't know she had OCD & snap her out of it, she'd still be there.

I'm sure it's supposed to show how annoying OCD is. But who wants to be annoyed watching a show? Not me.
