The 23-F scene was nearly cut out of the "director's cut". In the original 2009 cut, actors Alberto Triano and Andrés Triano improvised most of the dialogues and the scene was shot as a sequence shot. For the next cut, David Díaz first decided to cut it out because many people told him that the scene wasn't helping to the rhythm of the film and nobody understand it. Then David decided to add new actors to answer in the other side of the phone line. David rewrote the scene, and started to rehearse with his friends David Valbuena and Rubén Trujillo Yranzo playing two fascist civil guards. Also he add the character of Teniente Coronel Tejero and he was going to be play by another actor. After several rehearsals, the actor who played Tejero didn't show up again, so the scene couldn't be finally shot. For the last cut David used the voices of Valbuena and Rubén taken for the rehearsals to re-cut the scene with them, answering the original 2 actors, also using zoom ins into the original shot to cut throw it. Also all little prologue was add to explain the scene with the voice of Adán Latonda. See more »
