‘November Criminals’ Trailer: Ansel Elgort Goes From ‘Baby Driver’ to ‘Brick’ in This Indie Mystery Drama

18 September 2017 10:24 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Ansel Elgort is riding the success of “Baby Driver” right into the fall, in which he stars opposite Chloë Grace Moretz in the indie murder mystery “November Criminals.” Based on the novel of the same name by Sam Munson, the film stars the two Ya favorites as a pair of college-bound friends who team up to try and solve the mysterious death of one of their classmates. Think “Brink” with a dash of romance and a bit more conventional.

November Criminals” is directed by British journalist-turned-filmmaker Sacha Gervasi, best known for directing the documentary “Anvil! The Story of Anvil” and the Anthony Hopkins-starring “Hitchcock.” He’s currently in production on the HBO original movie My Dinner With Hervé, starring Jamie Dornan and Peter Dinklage. The supporting cast includes Tessa Albertson, Catherine Keener, and David Strathairn.

"There are no costumes. There are no super-villains. We’re trying to do something very, very different."

Regarding which "New Mutants" comic the movie will adapt, Boone confirmed:

Bloody New Mutants Logo Teases First X-Men Horror Movie

13 September 2017 7:35 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Most of Fox's The New Mutants must have been shot inside of a studio or at a very locked down location, because shooting comes to an end in the next couple of days, and we have yet to see one single set photo or leaked image of the cast. Today, we have a look at the official logo courtesy of director Josh Boone. A blood-splattered and bear-mauled image, it teases the horror elements that will be on display in this exciting X-Men spin-off.

The image comes direct from the official Josh Boone Instagram. He doesn't offer any new info about the movie, or what's being shot in these last days. He merely gives fans a quick wink and nod as if to acknowledge that he's still working away at his mutant opus.

Star Wars Director

After the news last week that Colin Trevorrow had left Star Wars: Episode IX over “creative differences”, Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams will be stepping in to helm the galaxy far, far away again. I guess Patty Jenkins was busy? “With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy,” said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. Read more here.

Episode IX Pushed Back

And with that, it should come as no surprise that Star Wars: Episode IX has now been pushed back so new screenwriters Abrams and Chris Terrio can flesh out a new script. Episode IX will now open on December 20th 2019, putting it in competition with Universal’s Wicked and Sony’s Masters of the Universe. Director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) has taken to Instagram to announce that he’s in the final week of production on 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: The New Mutants, and in doing so, he’s also shared a first look at the film’s rather bloody logo; check it out here…

Boone had previously said The New Mutants will be “a full-fledged horror”, and the logo is certainly in fitting with that description. Although plot details are being kept under wraps, it is said that the film will be taking its inspiration from the classic ‘Demon Bear’ comic book story arc.

X-Men: The New Mutants is being directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars), while the cast includes Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Wolfsbane, Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) as Magik, Charlie Heaton (Stranger Things) as Cannonball, Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) as Sunspot, Blu Hunt »

Venice Film Review: ‘Our Souls at Night’

1 September 2017 7:21 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Addie and Louis don’t exactly have the love affair to end all love affairs planned, except in the sense that they hope it’ll be their last. “I just want to live out my day and then come tell you about it at night,” he offers, one weary Colorado octogenarian to another, and that suits her needs just fine. That line encapsulates the modesty of the drama in “Our Souls at Night,” an anodyne, autumnal adaptation of Kent Haruf’s slender swansong novel: The real conflicts and crises in these lovers’ lives have passed years before, in separate relationships, and it’s their joint attempts to reappraise those that gives Ritesh Batra’s wheaten-hued film much of its poignancy. The rest it owes to the residual low-key chemistry of stars Robert Redford and Jane Fonda in their fourth screen collaboration; nearly 40 years after “The Electric Horseman,” they resume their partnership as comfortably and as unfussily as »
