Some sexual references, usually in a mean-spirited fashion from Fletcher.

Fletcher throws objects, including a chair and a cymbal, and slaps Andrew in the practice sessions.

Fletcher is verbally abusive to his students.

Some practices of drumming involve blooded hands. Drips of blood can also be clearly seen on drum sets. In one scene, Andrew dips his injured hand in a bucket of ice water and it becomes quite bloody.

While rushing to get back to a competition, Andrew ends up in a car crash, leaving a mild bloody scar on his head and still bleeding from the crash.

The death of one of Fletcher's students is briefly described in two scenes: while Fletcher says he died in a car accident, a counselor at the conservatory says he hanged himself.

After Fletcher tells Andrew he's out from the band, Andrew attacks and almost strangles him.

Strong language throughout the film.

80-90 uses of 'fuck' including derivatives

14 uses of 'shit' and its derivatives.

2 uses of 'cocksuckers' 1 use of 'cunt'

Other uses include 'prick', 'faggot', 'dick, 'pansy', 'bitch,' etc.

Viewers may find the homophobic remarks offensive.

Some mild drinking involved.

Although a music-themed film, the film is extremely intense throughout as well as emotional. In particular, Fletcher's treatment of his students is incredibly disturbing, to the point of outright cruelty, and will upset some viewers.

The car crash may surprise viewers.

BBFC - (15) Very strong language, strong sex references.

MPAA:
