Unexpectedly charming French romcom
27 July 2016 | by (Eastbourne) – See all my reviews

I have real soft spot for this film which I've now seen twice. It appears to have passed completely under the radar which is a shame for a number of reasons.

First, it features ex-cop turned actor/director/writer Olivier Marchal in a role totally unlike those he usually plays in gritty French thrillers - even more surprising as he collaborated in the screenplay writing.

Secondly it gives a peach of a role to the underrated Audrey Fleurot and the always watchable Zabou Breitman is just great as the short tempered family judge with her own relationship issues.

Finally the whole thing is seductively shot primarily on the holiday island of Reunion.

This would be absolutely ripe for an American remake.
